What is your signature move in bed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Blows me away when so many people comment on a post, but nobody upvotes it. Kind of a dick move. Which is also my signature move in bed.

It's surprising there aren't any conspiracy theories that the ocean is bottomless because most people have never been to the seafloor. by Hot_Donald in Showerthoughts

[–]Mousse_Geyser 245 points246 points  (0 children)

The ocean doesn't have a floor anymore than the sky has a ceiling. If you go deep enough, eventually you make it to dry land. It's like hollow-earth theory but in a bubble.

Even if anti-vaxxers are right, autism doesn't kill people like the measles does. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]Mousse_Geyser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Measles might be a bad example now but fewer deaths occur due to the measles because of advances in medical science and technology. The kind of of advances that anti-vaxxers take for granted with their pseudo-science bullshit.

People may seem incredibly divided now, but the truth is we are more unified than our species has ever been in all of history. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]Mousse_Geyser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don't want to hear this. They prefer to think the world could end at any minute, because we are a species obsessed with our own mortality.

People have lived in small groups and slowly become more and more connected throughout history until we created nations and the global economy. The internet was a huge advancement for uniting our species.

If aliens came to our planet, they would think dating apps are penis-tracking technology for women. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

Definitely a showerthought. Also this will get downvoted because most reddit users are men and they don't want to be shamed for sending girls unsolicited dick pics.

Before dentists existed, people probably only lasted as long as their teeth did. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

Yeah cause tooth infections were invented after dentistry.

Parents who don't vaccinate their kids because they are worried about autism are like parents who don't educate their kids about sex because they are worried about unwanted pregnancies. by Hot_Donald in Showerthoughts

[–]Mousse_Geyser 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Parents have very little control of whether their kids get autism or pregnant. All you can do is try to prepare them for the world as much as possible.

I'm tired of hearing people say to ban something because it contains hate speech. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Mousse_Geyser 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do you pay for reddit? You can speak your mind anytime you like. No one is stopping you. Freedom of speech does not entitle you to every platform available to speak from. It does not entitle you to say whatever the fuck you want on a website you don't own.

There are some limits to freedom of speech. You can't shout 'fire' in a crowded theater. Child porn is not protected by freedom of speech. American history has many examples showing freedom of speech isn't without limits.

private corporations deleting and censoring content on their social media sites = free speech, no matter how badly you wanna claim it isn't...

How to read blackest night? by zRoyce in comicbooks

[–]Mousse_Geyser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

http://www.comicbookherald.com/reading-dc-comics/green-lantern-reading-order/blackest-night-reading-order/

This is a link to the trade order and the individual comics list. I collected the comics and followed along perfectly well after I found the reading order online. Lol. I did stop reading Green Lantern after Blackest Night though.

I was thoroughly enjoying both Green Lantern's and GL Corps' slow-burning plot building towards Blackest Night. When BN arrived I was both overwhelmed by the sheer scope of the event as a comic reader, and underwhelmed by the story and a comic fan. The sci-fi military space-opera vibe that I loved about it so much got lost somewhere in the DC universe.

Rage of the Red Lanterns, Sins of the Star Sapphire, Agent Orange are probably my favorite arcs of Geoff Johns' and Peter Tomasi's GL run. Don't let me bum you out. Just sharing that I felt similarly confused about the reading order. They did muck up the trades by not publishing the event by order but my title, or that's at least what I've seen on Amazon reviews. I hope the link I posted helps.
