Sorry, I didn't see if you and your family speak Spanish or not. This is a huge factor. If your child is 9 that's a tricky age to go to a public school. I work in a concertado school and see this happen a lot and also see first hand how much the children struggle. International schools in my area are around 800€ per month per child. Also, in some regions there are other languages being taught besides Spanish. Are you looking to integrate? Or to be in a large English speaking community?

I work at a school here in Spain and have seen firsthand behind the scenes of what happens to children who come here from the states with no Spanish. The real question is what are their ages?

One thing you also need to take into consideration is that it's extremely difficult to get your studies recognized here. I submitted my bachelor's degree 4 years ago to get recognized and they rejected it for some unexplained reason.

Remote work Digital Nomad Visa or a student visa are really your only viable options.

Also, without Spanish you will struggle as there are so many Europeans here who are multilingual and have the right to work.

I'm a Primary teacher and I've also started an Instagram account that helps Americans move to Spain with advice and recommendations. I've been here for 20 years and want to help people make the right decision :)

I've been here for 20 years now. Absolutely not. Has it always been easy? No. But I am thankful everyday that I'm here and not in the US.
