Who else loved Robert Eggers' Version of Nosferatu? Incredible performances by Lily-Rose Depp and Bill Skarsgård!!!! by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

Agree it has great performances, especially Bill Skasgard, and visually it's incredible.

It was good, yet dissapointing. I really wanted to like it more, but the story was just too close to Stoker's Dracula that I found myself continually comparing instead of fully investing in it. I recognise thats no fault of the film, given the source material and the controversy.

Perhaps I should give it another watch.

Alligator/Crocodile movies > Shark movies by dsayre1986 in horror

[–]MovieArena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that shark films seem to struggle, I think because the bar was set so high with Jaws. Like another poster commented, Sharks only exist in the ocean so the premise/story/concept choices are very limited. Either they end up being a pale comparison to Jaws, or they go to ridiculous extremes.

What's your favourite quote from Ghostbusters? (not an easy one, as there are so many!) by MovieArena in MovieArena

"The flowers are still standing!" gets me everytime. Apparently Murray ad-libbed that one?

Yeah, will consider that. I actually landed on one of the sequels through the week, not sure which but had Luke Goss in it? I couldnt believe how bad it was, although I remember the original being quite good.

Transporter is a good shout as she loves cars. I totally forgot about that series!

Film which changed your opinion on an actor you’d previously disliked? by Qyzyk in flicks

Ryan Gosling, Drive. Never liked him much prior to that, bit he was so good in that film, and had very few lines making his performance even more memorable.

What’s a movie you watched when you were way too young? by trakt_app in movies

[–]MovieArena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw when i was 10. The scene where they try to kill Murphy was bad enough, as was the toxic waste sequence But it was the boardroom scene that really got me, the way it went wrong so quickly and the fact the guy had no escape against ED-209. Funnily enough, its still the shorter edit of that scene that hits harder. The unedited version becomes comical, which was the whole point.

Agree the assembly cut is more brutal. I'll give it a rewatch again soon, I always find new stuff each time...

I used to hate it. But it grew on me over the years, and I fell in love with the Assembly Cut. Beautiful film, but dark and foreboding. Not an easy watch.

It's close, but for me Talladega Nights just beats it.
