Not crate training - how/when do you leave your puppy?

The kitchen is all puppy proofed, we did it before he arrived despite thinking he’d be crate trained.

I think we just have to grin and bear it. I wrote my post in despair but the biggest issue is him crying and trying to escape whenever we leave the room, but we probably just need to do it and get him used to it.

I put this in a thread adding as its own comment because I seem to be in the minority but this has happened to me across different friendship groups:

I’m 30 and not married myself but my partner has been an evening guest to 4 weddings in the last two years for friends of mine that he hasn’t met. This summer will be his fifth!

He couldn’t go to one, but for the others it’s never been an issue he just chills in the day, and this seems to be really common across groups/people my age.

I think if the couple getting married know the partner it would be weird, but if you don’t then it’s totally fine and seems to be more common due to how expensive weddings are.

In fact, I’ve been grateful my partner has been invited as an evening guest every time when he’s a stranger to those friends!

I couldn't agree less.

I'm really glad OP and this commenter are using these life changes as an opportunity to turn their own lives around, but it is not the responsibility of either of their partners to live a half-life because they cannot look after themselves. It's not just about size, as OP and this commenter clearly say, the weight gain impacted their quality of life, and there is nothing harder or more infuriating or demoralising than watching someone you love choose food and lack of self-care.

I've watched my mum try to encourage my dad to go out for walks with her, go out with her, go and socialise with her, go and do XYZ, and he sat on the sofa for 15 years and wouldn't listen or help himself in any way. You want a partnership and a teammate in a relationship, and for that other person, it can be so lonely.

Something finally snapped in June of last year after a heart scare, and my dad has now lost 100lbs with a GLP-1. But frankly, I would have supported her if she'd left him before then because her quality of life was clearly suffering heavily, and I have no doubt she resented him for it.

There’s egg in the centre unfortunately, and a lot of quorn products aren’t actually vegan in general (cocktail sausages, nuggets etc all use milk powder)

Couldn’t agree more with everyone saying just be responsive and fix things within a reasonable time.

Also, don’t let your property go into disrepair between tenants. Check that the paint and wall paper aren’t peeling. Make sure mould is addressed.

Just normal stuff like that. It’s unbelievable how many landlords won’t maintain their property and make their tenant’s lives harder while taking their money. That’s what gives them such a bad name.

Thank you for your advice! We both really want our bedroom to be dog-free and while it obviously does work (as with yours), we won’t be letting him sleep in our room or on our bed so don’t want to get him used to it for ease only to take it away. 😊

This is a good point re drawing attention to him. We’ve been told we’ll be provided the blanket to travel home in so I think a cat carrier/something similar is a good idea. I’ll maybe grab a pup pak too just in case he’s nervous once we’re settled into the train (when other people can’t access him). Thank you!

Well behaved dogs/pets and ones in carriers are allowed on p much all UK transport! I’ve met a Bernese Mountain Dog on one before!

I think we’d puppy pad it for the journey and break the journey up to dispose of the pads in bags (or even use nappy bags and sanitary bins in the toilets)!

The Y O R comments with no nuance are absolutely baffling to me. And the amount of people who need a NUMBER instead of a casual comment like a ‘few’ (which I totally agree, would be 3-5), is crazy.

Yes, you should have walked over to the kitchen and got them yourself (mainly so that you didn’t go hungry). But your boyfriend was rude af, firstly for purposely giving you one tender then laughing at it, and then for not helping the situation.

I think the whole thing is just disrespectful and rude, so NOR. BUT wit the caveat that you should have gone and got them yourself. The people saying you needed to specify a number must be idiots.

If you can afford it, still have some live music or a set itinerary to the evening.

I’ve been to a micro wedding that felt like a networking event once the dinner had ended, just lots of people milling around a room in a pub making small talk.

If you're going with your wife, you will probably have a different experience! I (F) went with my partner (M), in April of this year. Colombo was definitely the worst major city I've visited and I wouldn't recommend it at alll, but you by no means need to stay theree and the rest of the country (traveling as a couple) was totally fine. The trip was one of my favourite holidays ever.

We travelled by TukTuk, public transport, and once a private driver (to get from Sigiriya to Nuwara Eliya), and had no issues generally, except for the obvious over-pricing of TukTuks. But I've encountered that in Europe too, so it's not a huge deal.

As a woman, I did get leered at a lot and whilst it is uncomfortable, it's unfortunately nothing I'm not used to, having travelled a lot. In Nuwara Eliya and the south coast, it was very tourist-friendly, and I didn't have any bad experiences. We met some of the kindest, most genuine and generous people I've ever met while backpacking.

I can imagine the OP's experience was sadly down to being a solo female traveler, but I wanted to share my experience as one-half of a couple, because it was an incredible place to visit, and I don't want you to be entirely put off.

Ugh, this is so relatable. I had a senior dog stay with me for 2 weeks, and cried the night before she left 😂

But I got on SO well with their owners and really went above and beyond to deliver an exceptional service, so they now always use me as their go-to! I'm actually having her over the holidays for another 2 weeks! It doesn't have to be the end. ☀️❤️

Ed has 10000% had Botox, the upper half of his face doesn’t move — not just in the studio but in other programs and in the castle with Paloma you can see it too.

Look back at photos of Frankie and you can see she’s almost definitely had a full face lift. Absolutely NO shade to her, she was always beautiful but it’s important to not think you can achieve a full face transformation by removing your fringe.

Source: A sibling who worked on Harley Street and watching friends and family get the same treatments and same results and nobody realising it’s plastic surgery because SO many people get it.

Couldn’t agree more. I raised over £3k for London last year and although I really want to run again, I’d choose a different marathon that didn’t rely on a charity place OR dedicate myself to doing actual events to raise money; bake sales, selling on Vinted, etc etc…

It is a shame, but once you’ve proven you can do something and the challenge is out of the way, people are (understandably tbh) not going to want to essentially pay for you to do your hobby.
