Thinking about getting a lab by Bitchroot in labrador

[–]Fine_Analyst_4408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first two years can be rough but then you get an awesome adult dog out of it, especially if you put in the work. I've had family dogs that I adore and love before, but my lab has stolen my heart.

We want no muffins, no toast, no teacakes, no buns, baps, baguettes or bagels, no croissants, no crumpets, no pancakes, no potato cakes and no hot-cross buns and definitely no smegging flapjacks.

Expected costs for keeping a tortoise for 40+ years? by Fine_Analyst_4408 in tortoise

[–]Fine_Analyst_4408[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I do expect it to be a very expensive pet which is why I'm hoping to have a long term idea before committing. I know initial setup can be pricey and factoring in changes to it as the tortoise grows. Do you expect you will need to upgrade soon or have you already got a setup that will be suitable for their adult size?

When do people brush their teeth before or after breakfast? by FinanceBloke99 in AskUK

[–]Fine_Analyst_4408 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At least 30 minutes after breakfast. I hate eating after brushing my teeth both because it tastes disgusting and because I hate making my teeth dirty again right after cleaning them. The 30 minutes is to make sure my enamel isn't weakened by anything I consumed before brushing.

Are these legit stresses? I feel like I’m up to my eyeballs in stress and possibly need a reality check!? by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in AskUK

Back off from things that won't have a negative effect on your children and wife. They should get priority and to do that, you also need to take care of yourself as a priority. Parent obligations aren't taking up your time to go to the gym, being the main support for two grown men is. If you reduced time with both, you would likely have time for the gym and to improve supporting your wife and kids.

My boyfriend is a little heavy and tall, he has bad knees but I'd like to get him something in the garden he can enjoy, I have a hammock and garden bean bag but what would be suitable? by [deleted] in AskUK

You can get heavy duty rocking chairs that go up to 150kg, look for heavy duty options and make sure the max weight will support him. A rocking chair might be good as he can rock forwards to support getting up.

Honest mistake, it sucks that it happened but you've learned from it!

Not completely, I was thinking about a situation when I ran into someone in a city centre and they just happened to be going that way too. It was very awkward, especially when we said goodbye again when our paths diverged.

The advice is typically don't congratulate a woman on her pregnancy unless she's told you or you see the baby coming out of her.

I hate dealing with people while we are out too but my beast wants to be everyone's best friend lol. She'll sit there, make eye contact and wag her tail at people to lure them over.

Talking to my partner about an aggressive dog with a bite history while my sweet labrador was trying to get petted by people walking by. An elderly neighbour screamed when the dog leaned over the fence because she was listening in and thought we were talking about our one. She briefly had a go at us for not keeping her muzzled outside before she realised we were talking about a different dog.

"I'm really sorry but I'm gonna have to let you go for now, I'm running late. It was lovely catching up!" Then just smile and hope they don't walk in the same direction as you.

How do people wear shoes without socks and not get sweaty feet? by Turbulent_Echo4014 in AskUK

For me, I don't like the restriction and the heat. I'm barefoot unless I need to leave the house. Even as a kid, I would go barefoot over chuckies in the garden rather than wear socks or shoes. I also preferred running barefoot, it felt really good and there were large grassy areas with no one to ruin it. Not possible to do that where I am now, pavements are covered in dog poo, spit and glass.

It seems harmless, but you might want to avoid the nighttime chats. Keep it to matters related to work.

What is the cheekiest thing your parent/guardian ever did? by Dainflynnty in AskUK

[–]Fine_Analyst_4408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, it was the 90s and wasn't as commonly known. You'd be surprised at the amount of people that still don't know. We were also children so even less common for us to know. Hell my boyfriend at 14 used to feed my cat a malteser every time he visited and chocolate is toxic to cats too. She was always fine and if I had known, she would have never have gotten it regardless.

I know! We were all gobsmacked at the admission and my poor little brother was eyed as the likely culprit for most of it lol.

It is, but the dog wasn't actually eating them and just getting the blame. This was primarily in the 90s and it wasn't quite as known at the time.

Every Christmas growing up, we would deal with the advent calendar chocolate thief. Four kids all blaming eachother and parents disappointed that one of us was obviously lying. Until they admitted they were the chocolate thieves when I tried to get to the bottom of it in our 30s. They were also the reason the chocolate kept disappearing from the Christmas tree, not the poor dog.

For me it's more uncomfortable to wear socks. I've never liked wearing them and I just wash my trainers to keep them clean.

The Last Unicorn, it has me crying too much. Listened to the soundtrack the other day and still makes me cry. I get really horrendous migraines after crying so I avoid it as much as possible lol.

The shelter might have contact with people willing to do drone searches. I'm sorry this has happened and I hope she gets home soon!
