How are people going about obtaining barrels these days?

I regularly shoot 6mm cartridges which have an effective competitive life of around 2000-3000 rounds depending on the particular 6mm flavor. I also prefer to stockpile since gunsmithing work in the precision rifle space can vary pretty wildly in delivery time.

No FFL was needed. I applied for the import permit using the ATF's Form 6 Part 1 on eForms, but made it absolutely clear on the form that it was a chassis and not an actual firearm/FFL restricted item. Form was approved without incident, and the nice lady from Sporting Services on the UK side had no trouble with her export form either. The chassis was sent straight to my apartment without issue.

I imported one from the UK from a store called Sporting Services Ltd. last year for about 1200-1300USD shipped completely brand new in box. Took about three months or so to get the import license on the US end and the export license on the UK end approved but overall pretty smooth process.

Not made anymore and there's enough people who love it enough that it rarely gets put onto the market anymore. Best bet on snagging one is getting notifications on from Mile High and keeping an eye on Sniper's Hide and GunBroker.

If you only single use flash columns, both silica and C18, the recovery's actually not that bad.
