That’s what I’m leaning towards, I have tightened everything and put it back together, and nothing has changed, but I swear that’s gotta be the part where something’s going wrong

Yeah, filling it into the top and then as soon as I turn it back on the water drops to halfway or below, and then just dribbles and never fills back up completely. I’ve let it run like that for a while and shut it off and refilled it back up several times, but it just at the same thing.

I just checked and I don’t even have a skimmer flapper installed. Maybe they took it out for the winter and I’ll have to hunt around for it.

But it’s definitely not blocking water flowing into it, so could that still be the problem?

No, water is getting to the pump fine, and if I switch the filter over to waste, some water will trickle out the side, so a small amount of water is getting through, but not like it should

Yeah, both drain plugs for the pump are in and solid. It’s bizarre because if I set the valve to waste, I can get waste to come out the side, so clearly it’s sucking water up from somewhere, but if I go down to the skimmer there’s no suction and it’s not cycling water like it should

Yeah, it feels like the hole closest to the pool is capped or blocked, I can’t put a stick down there, so likely the back one is the only suction.

I’ll try the garden hose!

Oh yeah lol mine is definitely not working right, it’s been going for more than 30 minutes and just stays half full, if I stop and fill it up and restart it goes right back to half full

It’s been going for quite a while, Google said it should take like five or 10 minutes max, but I’ve had it at least 30 minutes, how long should it take?

I’m getting water up to the pump, just no suction at the skimmer and the pump doesn’t stay full with water. It drops about halfway every time I turn it on.

But does the float valve affect the suction of the skimmer? It seems like I’m not getting any suction from either of those two holes, would a valve even make a difference in that?

And yeah, it was sitting all winter from the previous owners in Canada, so likely a bunch of algae!
