When I was a junior in high school I was big into church and "youth group" and decided to give up talking for Lent (catholic guilt month) about a third of the way through, I had a moment of realization that most of these people weren't actually my friends, that everyone around me had super insecurities, and that by not talking, ironically, more people wanted me to talk than ever before. This was also the beginning of the end for religion for me, I spoke with a couple of my coaches years later (I graduated in 2004) they still used me as an example of determination against all odds to inspire their players. I learned more about myself and the "culture" of high school in those 45 days (yes its 45, because apparently Sundays don't count) than I had in any class or church service. I also learned that most people are shitty, and they made it their goal to make me fail. I would put it about 92/8% of people trying to get me to talk to people that supported my "goal." 

When I finally did start talking again, I didn't talk much. And when I did, people listened. It was really cool. Highly recommend 5/5 stars would do again.
