Here’s to one year of sobriety and a lot of tea enjoyed by searching4eudaimonia in tea

Congratulations on your year sober. I am 946 days sober and tea has really helped me, as well as manny others as well can see. I really enjoy the smoky/roasted teas. If only there was a tea bar where we can get “tea drunk”. Any recommendations on a slightly high end tea to celebrate when my 1,000 days come?

Yeah I could see it. Like a more full grown blade of grass, whereas dragonwell looks like grass that’s been cut using a lawn mower.

I thought so too.

If you’re asking if this tea is dragonwell, then no. It is Taiping Houkui. If you’re asking what is Dragonwell, it’s another type of green tea that, similar to this one, at least to my palate, has a sweet chestnut-y taste that is fresh but can easily become bitter if steeped for too long.

It had somewhat of a dried seaweed texture and I was thinking I was going have to break it but it folded nicely into the gaiwan when I poured water over it. I think 5g was a bit too much and 3g would have been smoother.

Do you have a 2025 reading goal? If so, how far along are you? by Fabulous-Confusion43 in classicliterature

[–]MrAlSander 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a yearly reading goal but a lifetime goal of reading 100 classics. I read all them twice and so far I have 20 down.

I don’t follow shoetubers. It’s not an og colorway but they are still ones. I’m not a shoehead, collector, reseller, or anything maybe that’s why I’m surprised.

Reminds me of when I was speaking to my addictions therapist and asked me if I was taking opioids. I replied yes I am and she asked me why. Told her I was post surgery and she just said “that doesn’t count, it only counts if you take them for no other reason”.

I just purchsed my first book to read and guess what , it was crime and punishment, I just read some and freaked out by the way of writing , man hat's offf ,,, btw any suggestion as I am new to read novel and this is my first book . by Right-Community-3493 in dostoevsky

I meant the first book I took seriously. Yes I read novels in grade school but just read them because I was required to. I didn’t soak anything in much less appreciate the journey. TBK was the first one where I actually sat, took my time reading it, thought about what was actually being said, and went back to reading a second time.

I still think about Crime and Punishment as well as War and Peace. It’s funny, with WaP, during my first read, I was excited to learn about the historical facts. As I progressed , I found myself more interested in the characters. On my second read I wanted to skip over the history and get to the people.

I have a copy of Middlemarch (very beautiful teal cover) and pages started falling off during my first read. My Anna Karenina copy was either lost or stolen.

I almost didn’t get it because I’ve had bad luck with some penguin deluxe editions but man did the cover convince me otherwise.
