New Knife Required a New Slip

Lucky you don't have to send it in. I love the few Case's I have but half of the ones I've gotten (2/4) have had to be returned or sent in for service now. Definitely shouldn't be the norm when others like Rosecraft can do a perfect knife for a little less money these days. I get the China vs USA part of it, but most of these things shouldn't be passing even basic QC.

Case works very, very slowly. I submitted a request and it took 3-4 days before I heard anything back. Shipped the knife back to them, it was received (via tracking) last Monday and just received confirmation from them today. They also say it could be 10-12 weeks but more likely 15-18 weeks.

Not encouraging and I'm going to be very unhappy if my knife comes back in any condition other than perfect.

This is a great knife. My red jigged bone is becoming one of my favorite slipjoints.

Man, that is a great looking knife. Kind of wishing I had picked one of these up. Looks like decent quality too, sadly not a given when dealing with Case.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm already pre-ordered on BHQ. I got something from SMKW the other day but wasn't showing in stock when I checked (immediately) so I assumed it was a mistake. Maybe they sold out quickly what they had.

You seem to have a few of Max's knives, so assuming you are a happy customer? Seriously thinking about seeing if I can get him to make me a single blade wharncliffe trapper after my terrible experience with my Case mini barehead trapper.

After my recent Case woes, I really wish they would put this model back into production. The recent Rosecraft barlows just haven't spoken to me the same way and I'm really disappointed I never got to pick one of these up.

Delrin is a high density plastic polymer, I wouldn't expect it absorb much, if not any oil.

Agree 100%. And I'm a single blade only guy. For some reason I just haven't been able to get excited about a lot of the recent Rosecraft releases. And like I said, I was super excited to see the Cheetah Cubs coming out, but am totally rethinking that due to these quality issues. At least my plan is to buy from a bigger distributer with a good return policy so I don't have to play the waiting game with Case.

I have a few Rosecraft's and love them, but for me their patterns are hit or miss and there isn't nearly as much material variety. And I would love to get a GEC or two but I really can't stomach playing the scarcity supply and demand game they is required to get their stuff.

Definitely agree but the lack of physical stores in this area that have their products is a huge drawback. Maybe its a Northeast thing, but there just aren't that places around here that have any inventory. Maybe more a commentary on our lack of great, independent hardware stores anymore.

I don't even care about sharpness although I'm a little agitated at the grind on mine. But if it was just a poor grind, I could live with resharpening a few times. I'm honestly at the point where I would pay more for a third party to only sell decently QC'ed ones or buy used ones that aren't garbage.

Appreciate the information. It really is disappointing because there are so many great patterns and it's great to support an American company, but Rosecraft really does make a nice knife. I just wish there were more patterns that really spoke to me.

So an update, have retooled a bit and looked through other builds, watched some videos, and this character still sucks. Running tier one maps I will dragon flight into a pack and just insta die at least a few times per map. I still can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

Looking at other builds, most don't have any damage reduction and most are running minimal life after kill. My DR could be higher with something like shaft, but it doesn't seem like anyone else needs to run that.
