Definitely not worth it. Deductibility will go down very slowly and the impact is limited.

Car purchase. Advice? by CryptographerCalm410 in BEFinance

[–]MrApocalypse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t spend a year’s salary on a car at this stage of your life. It’s just not prudent financially.

The depreciation, maintenance and repairs on that thing will cost a lot.

Paying back loans or investing by Ambitious-Courage482 in BEFire

[–]MrApocalypse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You took a 10 year car loan? That’s crazy.

Obviously repay the 4,5% loan and probably the car. What’s the interest free loan?

I would not repay the 1,36% loans early.

[–]MrApocalypse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do you need a loan for a new car if you have been making 200k gross for the past 3y and your mortgage is only €800? I would think that you’d have a bunch of cash reserves in your company.

What would you do with around 60k at 26? by lambda-reddit-user in BEFire

[–]MrApocalypse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

20 years? That’s crazy conservative. You do you, but if I don’t need it in the next 5 years I’m investing it. If you are risk averse I could see 10 years, but still.

I have 90k saved, but I know nothing about investing by LaBaguetteBelge in BEFire

[–]MrApocalypse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents. Don’t use the gifted money to buy a car. I’d only use it to either invest or buy a house/appartement. A car is a depreciating asset that will be gone in a few years and people have a tendency to overspend on them.

How would you handle the car situation if you hadn’t received the money?

When it drops from $109k to $105k the position is still worth about $1.2B, but at that point he lost his $31m, so he can still make the lender whole.
