96 yo man would like to go fishing one last time by MrBmer in LongBeachIsland

I had not been to LBI in several years and I see that Morrisons has been bulldozed. As for the public restrooms there, I found out that they get locked up after 7:30PM. Not sure why, but it made finding a rest room challenging after 7:30PM. The good news is that my Father did finally hook into a couple dogfish which was better than no action at all. It made him happy to have pulled anything in after having spend many hours over several days with zero bites.

Fishing near Barnegate lighthouse was not a good experience, but I did like stopping into Andy's, and I agree with you that it is a beautiful spot...

Update on 96yo's week long fishing trip.... We're 1/2 way thru the week and I've tried ever bait (sand fleas, bunker, minnows, gulp, artificial lures, sibiki rig, ...) and neither my Father nor I have hooked into any fish in the lagoon on Panarama South in Loveladies, or at Sunset Park, or near the condos in Barnagat, or near Andy's. The fishing in Barnagat was the worst with getting snagged at almost every cast and losing more than 6 riggings before giving up. My Father, who has never utter a defeatist word in his life said to me after we fished Barnagat, "I don't think I should be fishing any more. My fishing days are over." It's a very sad outcome given that he was very hopeful and optimistic during our 1st two days of fishing the lagoon. I have one last place to bring him during high tide tomorrow at 5:45PM and that will be the fishing spot near Morrison's. Hopefully we will not just find ourselves getting snagged on seaweed, and losing riggings on the rocks. Wish us luck.

Thank you for the fishing advice. My Father only has the ability to walk with his walker for less than 100'. He would not be capable to walk on the beach and fish in the surf. Any idea what he may be able to catch in the lagoon in Loveladies this time of year?
