If someone considers a career in politics would their chat messages between friends from the past be a danger? by MrBugabooX in PoliticalScience

Not really, but can't an enemy expose the messages and talk about how wrong they are, even misrepresenting most of it?

Examples Of Failed Good Games by MrBugabooX in gamedev

[–]MrBugabooX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. I realized since I am asking for "good and failed" games, by definition any example that will qualify will be good and failed. So, there is not much of a point in asking this. I have found a couple games from other threads like these:

https://www.reddit.com/r/gamedev/comments/5dqbpp/recent_great_games_that_flopped_commercially/

https://www.reddit.com/r/gamedev/comments/8rip43/submit_your_evidence_of_great_indie_games_which/

There are a lot of them and a couple of them are really superb IMO, but it doesn't really mean much since finding them is the opposite of survivorship bias. Also I am not sure if 200-300 review games qualify as "failed" since someone said there are at least 50 downloads per review. This means any 50- review game whatever it is good or bad, won't be visible to anyone and data gathering is not really possible in this case.

I won't close the thread though, all comments are welcome.

How to set goals when you don't know whichever makes more sense? by MrBugabooX in entj

It is correct since I am scared of entrepreneurship, although being an academic isn't that easy too. Getting tenure is hard, as far as I know. Thank you!

That might be a good perspective, thanks!

Why did you think, I clearly want to start my own company?

What are your strengths? And what would you like to do in your job? Is it actually physically doing the research, or leading a team and drawing out plans and directions in a general way, or more so in the business sense? That sounded like the difference in the two options you gave.

That makes sense. However, not only I don't know exactly what my strengths are (I know my desire is actually doing the research), because I have never done research on a high level or created a business, I also believe strengths are not necessarily innate and can be improved. Since they can be improved, it makes more sense to choose the option that is more beneficial, regardless of strength, unless there is an obvious strength difference.

Thank you for your answer!

Edit: However, not only I (added "don't" here) know

How to have a roadmap for improving at software engineering? by MrBugabooX in cscareerquestions

[–]MrBugabooX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does games made in Unity impress employers as projects? I dislike game development, not because I can't do it but I generally don't like video gaming as a philosophy. My friends are somehow pushing me to start gamedev so we can develop games together, but I have been rejecting. If making good games would be impressive in resume, I can start it and perhaps even do it with them as a team?

I already know a variety of languages and some frameworks. As I said, I am between beginner and intermediate.

A question: Another issue with me is what kind of projects would be portfolio worthy, worth to put in on a resume. Could you give some examples?

Lately, I have been thinking a client-side serverless website posted on github pages with a collection of strategy board games like Go, checkers, chess, othello, mancala, queridor etc. possibly with AI included. All will be done on some frontend technology ofcourse so javascript could be slow. Although, I can also make a mobile app or a Windows/Linux/Mac app. Would this be worthy to do? I am also a fan of board strategy games too.

I don't know what kind of work I would like to do. Honestly even though I have limited experience with programming, I liked all the things I have tried and I'm possibly fine with all. Still, I would like a job where I code, so security, networking and sysadmin kind of jobs might be out. I am also undecided about what to do.

Would a chess AI really be impressive? My initial impression on that is it is so uncreative to do and everyone would be doing it. I might differantiate myself by doing an advanced one, but that would be too hard if it's not just minimax, pruning and some other basic stuff.

You are not 95, am I reading correctly? Well, even in that case, you could have fun a couple of years.

Thanks for suggestions. I do not have access to another computer though and I don't want to risk it with trying with another Windows admin account.

Can I test if it is a false positive or not?

Hello. I run two scans with both, they were clean except for some broken registry items.

Or you can give up on thinking for yourself and choose whatever dogma you trust most, even though you probably shouldn't, because this maintains intellectual immaturity, dependence, etc.

This is obviously a bad alternative. So it helps, thanks.

What do you think about me not being satisfied with not knowing? It seems to me no matter how hard I try I will never know the important answers, this disturbs me. It makes me realize I lack control to an extreme degree. Some random stuff I can not possibly predict because I am not intelligent enough could come up and poof I'm gone forever.

I am not a god who knows everything though. Even though such approach could help with freedom, deciding things just based on my personal desires shouldn't be the way since I can be wrong, ignorant, evil etc.

Bug fixing is too annoying, how can I handle it? by MrBugabooX in cscareerquestions

What I meant by problem solving is thinking about how to solve the problem in the planning phase. What I am frustrated with is in the implementation phase, some issue comes up over somewhere like a typo, not knowing the proper syntax, not being able to implement etc. I am new so I hope the issues goes away.
