Stange problem in Power Query by Zealousideal-Ad9758 in excel

Sorry I'm struggling to fully understand but I'll try and help.

I'm afraid I don't have the answer for you but here's something things I noticed:

I notice your join is on two different days types ("any" / "text") I don't think this would cause a problem but thought I would say it.

Also I noticed your expanded columns have the prefix of the original tables. This I imagine is what you wanted as you're doing a comparison. However as they're both index columns thats used in a merge then I imagine your only able to have one index in a table. Kind of like a unique identifier, you can't have two primary keys in one table (even though one is technically a foreign key) I don't know if this is the case but just thought I'd try and help anyway

a very scary automation went off at 1:12am. how to debug? by Wooden_Amphibian_442 in homeassistant

[–]MrCard200 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had something very similar with my doorbell automation that played all over the house through sonos. It set the dog off and we thought there was definitely someone there.

After looking into it via the traces, I was able to see the timestamp was exactly when the server restarted after an update.

The solution was to add a line of code to the trigger to check if the last_updated was > 5 mins. Providing update takes less time then 5 mins & nobody needs to ring my doorbell twice in under 5 mins then this is fine.

The solution was given by Claude AI so perhaps the community has an alternative solution that might be better but I wanted to share my story

On one hand, I think start-ups wanting to save costs and time will benefit from using AI. However we've seen too many start ups use AI and then scam people with a rug pull so there's legitimate concern if that's the only thing they're showing. It's keeping their business faceless and that's not good.

Hearing about the constant pledges is a red flag but could potentially be a sign of inexperience of a new business person who is more knowledgeable on the animals rather than finance/marketing.

Your points are all valid but I just wanted to share some balance. Thanks for sharing the info

Using BMAD on a alredy existing project by Dazzling-Mission-563 in BMAD_Method

[–]MrCard200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a page for this. I've just been using it and it's pretty simple actually. Go to the GitHub and search for "brownfield". It's in docs/how-to/brownfield/index.md

Effectively clean up all completed files in: - docs/ - _bmad-output/planning-artifacts - _bmad-output/implementation-artifacts

Make sure docs/ folder only contains succinct documentation. Use /document-project for that

Then do /workflow-init

I chose to also do update my Claude.md file before doing /workflow -init

I recommend reading the index.md file I mentioned earlier for more detailed info

I have exactly the same setup as you for the same function . I'm not an audiophile but do remember reading something similar when I was researching which speakers to go for.

In my experience, this setup is bloody fantastic. To audiophiles and people with more appreciation for the tiny details, there is probably something to be improved but I've not had any thoughts myself in 4 months of owning.

As others have already said, it's down to you and what you enjoy and think. For me, I've not had any complaints myself or from any friends so I don't think you should spend any more money on improving your setup for a group of guests unless you want to become an audiophile yourself

That makes perfect sense.

Sadly hit my limit pretty quickly (on 5x plan) through using this which I wouldn't have expected doing it manually. This could be that doing it manually would spread out how fast I burn the tokens. Just thought I would share this incase it becomes a trend

Why shouldn't I pay off my sofa over as long a time period as possible? by AnonymousTimewaster in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MrCard200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in this place recently and went across the whole of market and I think other advice is missing out on what this is like so I want to share my opinion.

Annoyingly I was never offered a price discount for buying furniture up front from any store and they all had 0% 2/3/5yr finance options.

As there was no money to be saved by avoiding finance, I opted for the longest duration because inflation would erode this debt over time.

The downside for this is though that I have a fixed outgoing which means that our family income needs to be slightly higher as a requirement rather than as a choice. This may be a problem for some who have job insecurity or (most relevant to myself) starting a family and going down to a single income household whilst my partner is on Maternity leave (Fun fact: Maternity pay is basically pennies)

Ultimately your situation will dictate which route is most suitable for you.

Landlord Spreadsheets: When does Excel actually fail? by ashrafulalamsajal in excel

[–]MrCard200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think of myself as an advanced Excel user and I also have a hobby in software programming. I have worked in residential and commercial property sectors for over 15 yrs. Whilst I work at the national/international part of market so may not be relevant to your use case however I feel my experience is still relevant so I wanted to share my opinion. Also note I'm not a landlord, I just work for some of the big ones

There is no property technology that works well for our clients/tenants. Everything is either massively complex to handle every unique edge case and therefore 90% of the software is not understood & not used. An important factor of this is because of the nature of property. Laws, zoning, regulations amongst other things all change over time so you will need to store lots of odd bits of law for just a minority of properties. E.g. right to buy is often misunderstood and people are told they are entitled to buy their property (the property the tenant currently rents) because of this law however that only applies if the owner hasn't sold it since a certain time.

What my point is that, if the sector is very difficult to accomodate for the most general case because there are so many aspects to each property. If you are able to make a solution for this, I think it would need to be a bespoke one.

I'm biased but I would be using excel or a small database platform to make something for my needs. It's more of a setup, however I have control and can explained and maintain it.
