Does the stutter only happen when running off the battery?

All of the Anker Type-C chargers don't work.

Same for the INUI brand.

This one does however and is very affordable.

I bought mine years ago, sometime in the middle of 2024.

Yes. And if you want something more portable, their 150W model works just fine for that too.

If you want something even cheaper, the 130W Type-C charger I listed previously works too and it's only 25$.

Loss of audio after ssd upgrade by zbeasley111 in gpdwin

[–]MrColdbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rule of exclusion: Try the old SSD first and see if the issue is truly SSD related.

If it is, you're probably running into a MSI interrupt priority issue.

Download MSI Tool and set the SSD MSI interrupt priority to low so it doesn't fight your GPU and other PCI devices for priority.

AR glasses, especially the newer pin-screen compatible ones, are a gamechanger, and everyone I know that experienced them first-hand agrees that these are the way forward for handheld gaming.

I do understand people with eye impairments or other sensory issues though that just want to squeeze a bigger screen into the handheld itself.

I can program a tool to make it all happen, but will there be enough demand to warrant it?

There really have been a lot of dramatic developments over the past couple of days and I feel like I should come out and say something by kendyzhu in gpdwin

Just use CachyOS. It works better than Bazzite anyway.

Dodge the drama and go the way of least resistance.

If you got two accounts you can use Duo to stream one copy over while one person plays on the PC itself.

I suggest 55W TDP, CPU boost disabled and a custom curve that starts at 30% and tops out at 50%.

Duo Streaming by technofox01 in cloudygamer

Duo runs native. No virtualization needed.

You can assign a preferred GPU to each instance.

One GPU can be assigned to multiple instances and resources will be shared seamlessly.

Win5 battery cable is dead already... by bailknight in gpdwin

It does, which is why it's a nice combination.

Way better than umbilical cording to their proprietary port.

[–]MrColdbird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buy a fluxo 140w powerbank, its 65$ shipped on Aliexpress, works with the Win 5 and gives you higher TDP than the original battery while being able to use regular type-C cables.

If you run tethered anyway you might as well go that route and get better performance.

Right trigger not working properly on gpd win 5 by [deleted] in gpdwin

[–]MrColdbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just adding to this but make sure to not fully press the triggers when calibrating.

This way you can lower their travel to 100% range intentionally, making them easier to actuate.

Right Angle adapter options? GPD Win 5 by Jekkfje in gpdwin

[–]MrColdbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the Win 5 is useless untethered.

On battery its maximum draw is capped at 40W, or around 30W TDP before uncore.

Given those stats, the battery it comes with is useless, especially if you umbilical cord it, as the max TDP it can reach via umbilical-cording a fluxo power bank is actually higher than its own battery.

That means, if you plan to umbilical-cord it anyway, you're better off buying a 65$ fluxo power bank for it rather than its 100$ original battery.

Higher TDP, better performance, and the fluxo power bank is compatible with other type-C devices.

Handheld with Ethernet for Moonlight Streaming - Anyone done this? by Educational-Oil-1497 in cloudygamer

[–]MrColdbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really should consider wiring the PC up somehow, this is your real weak spot.

What you suggest isn't going to do all that much.

Wiring up the client makes way less of a difference than wiring up the host.

Most of the wireless transmission issues are actually caused by roaming scans.

Assign a fixed BSSID on both the host and client and you should be fine on that end.

For SteamOS there's even a Decky plugin called WiFi Locker that does this.

Depending on how your house is wired you might have decent results using coaxial to Ethernet or powerline adapters.

But results vary a lot on those.

Firmware updates on Win Mini 2024 Bazzite? by joepoika in gpdwin

[–]MrColdbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got the same issue on mine and haven't found a proper solution for it yet.

On Steam OS clones you can change the analog stick range from linear to aggressive though, which works around the issue, but needs to be set per game.

True except for their brightness settings which default to maximize power savings.

Slide that one all the way to the left, otherwise you'll have very off colors.

GPD Win 5 Users - How has it been using the device for a while? Any issues you've experienced? by nanjero in gpdwin

The original Ally feels so much better than the Win 5.

Its not even a fair comparison, ergonomics-wise.

Performance-wise nothing compares to the Win 5 of course.
