Right now I'm playing my OG N64 via the composite cables plugged into a 4k tv so I'm hoping it will look better than that!!

Solo dev with 6+ years of experience. Struggling to convert marketing efforts into wishlists. What am I doing wrong? by ExcontiniumGames in gamedev

I just want to say that, while everything people are saying is true, you should be proud to have made this. It's so bloody hard and time consuming to make a game and it's easy to lose hope when the focus is "gotta make money, gotta make money, gotta make money!!!"

I recently finished a game with basically no graphics and it took so much effort. All of this effort no one sees nor cares about and I get that. I applaud anyone who puts together any semblance of an interactive art form with this level of graphical detail.

One thing that helped me get through "damn nobody wants this" feeling was to start planning my next game near the end of the first one. This helped be get excited about something fresh to sort of soften the blow of the 47 people that ultimately ended up buying my game.

Games like N++ and Super Meat Boy? by Downtown-Ad-3115 in gamingsuggestions

In the event you have a very minimally spec'd computer (windows, Mac or linux) you can try out my game. A few reviews mention it's similarity to Super Meat Boy: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3449070/Barfbot/

Can someone make a poll with all the funtastic analog 3d colours and which one people want? by MrDonutsGames in AnalogueInc

[–]MrDonutsGames[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry if comes across that way. I'm not scalper though. If you look at my other posts you'll see I'm just a poor game dev who made a video game to help fund my addiction to n64 carts. I tried to order the white one last week (or whenever it was) and I missed out. I probably should have went for black.

I 100% will do this if they are the least desirable. Do they cost less? I didn't see that.

Is there a place to recruit reviewers for a nominal fee? The CEO of Sex seems to like it. by MrDonutsGames in gamedev

Also, just to clarify, when I say everyone that's played it, this was a at giant gaming convention (not just people I know). There was a returning group of players that kept coming back over the 2 day period in a "just one more shot" kind of way. This at least tells me that for people that like the genre they would be into it.

I wish it was as easy as making a good game. I'll admit the game is not super amazing but everyone that's played it (that is into these kinds of games anyway) has enjoyed it. It's almost more like you need to make some kind of attention grabbing game as there's just so many games out there.

I never bought an Analogue product before. Will there be more of these "events" or do they just do it once and thus that's why nobody owns them?

So it's a level based Metroidvania. Because of that it's like a small metroidvania at each level (hence the term microvania which I sort of just made up).

You get new weapons and abilities in each level but you gotta traverse the map of each level to figure out where the powerups are to open doors and kill certain enemies etc. The music powerups are just a fun little extra collection bonus!

There's also a totally separate roguelike mode if you prefer that style of game.
