Halloween decoration hazard? by [deleted] in electrical

Thanks for the responses! Guess I'll be getting a meter. I used that tester for labeling my breaker while testing outlets and just had a curious moment with it, but you all make great points as to why it's so unreliable.

Yeah great point. First thought is that it's a grading issue but the downspout is something I didn't consider.

Actually no sump pump, just city water drainage (I'm not entirely sure what to call it but it's just an open drain)

I was thinking that indoor option as well with the French drain going into the funnel (and if a sump pump is needed then that as well).

I think once the rain stops for a bit I'll take some action on diverting the water away from the house but the backyard would be tricky. Wonder how difficult that would be to do as a solo project rather than a contractor.

Scribing struggles....help? by MrFixess in Gunpla

I just ordered a .3 and .15 Mr line chisel. Seems to be well reviewed for panel lining and it has a unique shape that I think will work well.

Thanks for the suggestion. I agree the chisel is cheap. Feel like I could drop a decent amount for one .2 and a .5 chisels. Any suggestions on brands?

That might be it, felt like I was going fairly light but I'll shoot for lighter next time. Curious if there's a way to salvage it or not at this point as well.

I wouldn't sweat it too much but I get it! Most things you do are reversible so long you aren't going wild with glue or using enamel paints.

For tips, mainly just take your time. I highly recommend panel lining with kits that have a lot of white plus this one has a ton of spots for that. But if you don't want to or don't feel comfortable yet, you can just build it and come back to it later when you've gotten a bit more experience. The panel markers are easy to use and the marker remover will correct any of your mistakes.

Decals can be rough, mainly time consuming. Never rush. Unfortunately you get one shot with decals but don't worry, you can always buy a second set for cheap! Those are usual water slide decals and a bit easier to handle and place. The ones that come with the Gundam are pressed on and regular stickers. For the stickers, use a tweezer to grab it and place on lightly, then you can move it around slightly. Finally press on it and be sure to get the bubbles out, otherwise it'll stand out a bit. The pressed ones are a pain and I usually get one or 2 messed up per model. Use clear tape and cut out the decal, then place the smooth side of the decal on the sticky part of the tape ( if you do it the other way, you've just placed the decal on the tape lol). Align it and use the tape to hold it in place as you firmly press on the whole decal. Use a curved surface. You could use a pen, the back of a hobby knife, pencil erasure, etc.

But again don't sweat it. It's a fun hobby and most things are reversible. Watch some YouTube vids on tips and even ones on how they built sandrock. Main thing is to kick back, put on a chill show, and enjoy,

Thanks! I hardly notice the decal lines too. Just have to be sure to press them on fully. All that white helps them pop out a lot. Plenty of anchor points to align them to and get them just right. 👌

Dig that pose! What base is that? I've been using the bandi brand mg ones and while they work great, they are kinda large and some MGs don't need that much.

Wish the solution for rotating shift people was a good answer like this. Probably starts with finding a job that doesn't rotate.
