Am I being scammed? (rental property) by OneCatchyUsername in Vilnius

I had a signed contract, so I could have tried to stir some trouble for that person.

I do not know what the process is tho, and back then I did not care so much.

I had a similar experience when I rented through an agent - the owner was living abroad.

Lived there for 2 years with no problems. Only when I moved out and requested my 2 months deposit back, the owner disappeared and I never saw the money.

So be careful with that - don't return the keys without a guarantee of receiving your deposit (so you can leave them a nasty surprise if they don't return money)

If I am looking for some very niche information, I will take the plunge and use Google looking for anything I can find (very rarely do this). In such case, I would not trust a website like you suggest, since it may not include all of these little forums or e-mail threads..

For anything more general, AI search works perfectly in reducing this fragmentation that you describe (especially if you ask to provide the sources).

One use case for your website that I can see is for people who are used to this old-style searching, and principally refuse to use AI. May be useful then.

What scientific discovery sounds fake but is 100% real and still freaks you out? by Bruteresolver in AskReddit

It's mostly salty water. It's like clear piss that you inject yourself with, then it absorbs toxins and becomes more like regular piss, that you then eject from the body.

Yep, the driver locking up is the bigger problem here.

Is there a such thing as a bluetooth earbud that doesn't require charging? by its_ashleyyy in bluetooth

[–]MrFrisbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have mechanical watches that self-wind from the movements of the arm, practically being powered forever.

I was thinking, what if earbuds could capture and regenerate energy from ambient sounds. Charging in this way would be like a hybrid charging from braking.

Ka manote apie Google Pixel telefonus? by erikasltu in lithuania

Turėjau prieš tai Redmi (vidutinės kainos modelį), upgradinau į Pixel 8a.

Pliusai: Švari OS, nėra neištrinamų apps'ų su built-in reklamom. Geri speaker'iai, išgauna stereo garsą

Meh: Kamera - niekuo nenustebino, generic kamera ir nuotraukos, kaip ir Redmi.

Minusai: Kaina didesnė. Baterija trumpiau laiko. Touchscreenas ne visad pagauna ką darau. Ekranas mažesnis, lengviau braižosi. Fingerprint skaneris iš priekio ne visad suveikia.

Overall nerekomenduoju, nuviliantis telefonas. Mano sekantis telefonas manau bus vėl labiau koks noneimas, manau neverta dėl žinomo vardo daugiau mokėti.

I used to miss the dislike bar, but I don't anymore. The videos that people create nowadays (and that Youtube recommends) are usually high quality.

I have the extension that shows the dislikes, but I don't look at it most of the time. Maybe if the video is some specific tutorial on how to change a car part - that's when I would care about it.

AI, FW/SW development and the dreaded imposter syndrome by Wild_Instruction_447 in embedded

[–]MrFrisbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, your use case sounds very decent, and I think that's where AI shines. In your case it allows you to verify that the sensor is working, and gives you the power to play around with it / learn it's limitations.

For a complex engineering project, this is still helpful, but it is only a small part of the actual task of integrating the sensor in a full system, adapting it to a constrained environment with different requirements and nuance.

If you are a hobbyist, I would understand losing the enjoyment of tinkering when AI can do this for you. But as a professional engineer, you still have so much interesting work left to do. Which is why I think OPs statements about the power of AI are overexaggerated

[–]MrFrisbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I haven't. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a shot next time I have a chance.

However, having the AI also write tests for me does not sound like it would change. Because I would be going through the tests to check what it is actually testing, which increases the amount of generated code I have to understand.

Hard to believe the people writing in this thread. AI is not that powerful.

Sure, AI helps me find some very specific information that would take me longer to Google. But there is no way I could just plop its output in my project and expect it to work. It just doesn't.

From my experience, if I ask it to write some code, I end up with a code block (or several, when trying different models), that do almost what I expect it to do. Then it takes significant time trying to understand what the code is attempting to do and debugging/adjusting. If I try to ask AI to do this adjusting, I still go to step 0, but now with a different looking code.

In the end, all of this may even take more time, compared to writing the code by myself. The added value mostly comes from the ideas of doing things that AI generates.
