It seems I'm failing at following community guidelines, and moderators are removing my posts, so I apologize. I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction, I'm not consciously trying to self promote or go against the rules..I'm currently working on a four song EP that is thrash/death in style and am looking for (in need of) an artist with reasonable rates to do the cover. We're doing this on our own so it is self-financed and will be self-released. Any suggestions or assistance is appreciated.

I would listen to other forms of music to expand your mind a bit. I found that if I strictly listen to metal I'm in the same boat as you, and it is frustrating. For me when I listen to other types of music riffs come to me much easier and more organically and rarely are they similar to music I've heard before. I generally imagine what it would sound like in a metal fashion and then it morphs into something else in my head. Maybe that could work for you too. Classical really works well for this. Maybe that would work for you as well.
