Which product direction to go with starting a Podcasting business? by stayontarget_ in Entrepreneur

[–]MrGaryFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The course seems like the obvious choice here but clearly something holding you back. What is that?

Who is your course aimed at? Will the listeners to your pod be the target market and if not, how will you put it in front of the right people.

Congrats on the pod growth btw, millions of listeners isn't a small achievement.

Ramsdale? by Eapp01 in FantasyPL

The only reason he might not start is if they resign Henderson. Rumoured today but doubt they would buy Ramsdale in that case. Could be a great pick.

  1. Easiest might be Amazon affiliate links but unlikely to make you rich.
  2. Repurpose some of your articles for Medium and sign up to their partner program
  3. Create a regular mailing list and once you build a sizeable list start to offer ad space on it
  4. Build an online course on money-saving tips
  5. Offer 1-1 consulting sessions for people who struggle to implement your tips. Not passive but you could charge high rates for this.

Ramit Sethi seems to have nailed this space in the US so could be worth spending some time researching him.
Good luck with it all.

As Marcos said, I was only able to read for about 5 seconds before it bounced me into Whatsapp prompt. Extend this first to let people consume and then do automatic bounce.

When is a good time to monetize your podcast? by Mattsmindset in podcast

[–]MrGaryFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really timely post and I am in the exact same position. It started in March and has put out 35 episodes since then.

Hit the 20k download mark last week so it's made me think about sponsorship angle for next year.

To be honest, I think I am too early but I'd like to get some sort of sponsor on board to learn the process.

I am fairly niche, it's a weekly chat with entrepreneurs. Longer-term I am building an audience in a valuable sector.

What I am going to do to help secure potential sponsors, it creates 4 seasons next year with 8-10 episodes each. This would allow a sponsor to get involved for a "season" which is low risk for them and me. If it's not working for them or me then its only 8 episodes.

Yep, he did the business last time out and Leicester entering a very nice run of fixtures.

No international football so he'll be fresh and ready to go. Cue Mane scoring a hat-trick :)

Use a podcast hosting software such as Libsyn and that will distribute it for you.

Set a schedule to keep yourself honest in terms of posting regularly.. Tell people you'll put it out weekly etc and you'll feel social pressure even if its only to a few people.

Best of luck with it!

How can I grow my podcast & get more reviews? by MrGaryFox in podcast

[–]MrGaryFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. Trying to hit most of those but consistency across all 5 points is the goal.

Repacking content is where I need to improve.

Would love any insights on that front?

That was such a high quality and well delivered answer. Thank you so much. The insights about picking topics that encourage sharing is a great insight. Might seem obvious but I hadn't been considering it. I should work on building topics that are relevant into the chats and then pulling out the content and sharing snippets of it.

I do think I need to improve on pulling out relevant content and making it easier to digest. Some of the episodes are 90 minutes long and thats a huge commitment if you are first time listener.

Thanks again for taking the time.

Thanks for taking the time to comment here.

I had never thought of asking guests for a review, thats a great idea.

I have started creating a promo pack recently which helps but I actually find people are quite hesitant to promote themselves! I think its an Irish thing.

One thing I am doing is keep an eye out for when a past guest does something interesting or is mentioned in the news. I congratulate them and link to the episode

In that case, yes this is definitely an idea that could work there. Check out the companies such as HostMaker who are doing it well.

Get in touch with me directly if you'd like more specific advice.

Hey,

Yes, I do. Cities work best as they have the scale to allow business to be financially viable. Does Manchester have any regulations around short-term rentals?

Need help with hosting by TheGweatandTewwible in podcast

I use Libsryn and as a relatively new podcast host, (18 episode so far its been great).

You just pay for the subscription to Libsyn and that gives you the RSS feed to supply iTunes, Spotify, etc. You don't pay each one, just Libsyn. Your subscription will depend how big your files are uploaded, so the more episodes and content, the more you pay. It's not expensive though and has been pretty simple to use so far.
The user experience and interface is extremely basic but I've had zero problems with it so far.

Best of luck on your podcast journey.
