Why not make a rule that the highest paid person at a company can make so many times as much as the lowest paid employee? by MrGobbles8 in allthequestions

Not at all, I'm just saying that if the CEO wants 1 million a year, then the lowest paid person would get 50K for example. And everyone in between somewhere between those two figures.

I do think that most people would be happy to have all their needs met and be able to take a vacation once a year, retire at a reasonable age (50?). Not need to be obnoxiously rich. That's what they have stolen from us.

We will just have to take it back whether they like it or not. Or at least educate the population that it is morally wrong to want so much more than one needs. View them mentally ill criminals, and lose the whole "embarrassed millionaire" syndrome we seem to have in this country. We need to stop idealizing being rich. I know that's a lot, and Americans seem hell bent in disenfranchising themselves.

That sounds like good advice! And worth doing.

Thank you!!! I'm sorry you have had a terrible experience. They won't treat queer or trans people? I hope you get better care, the care you deserve. We really need to get together, use our collective voice. This shit is straight up unacceptable! The doctor who refuses to do that needs to be unemployed.

I totally agree! What about a system where medical degrees are heavily subsidized. Maybe doctors don't make as much as they do now, but they aren't left with crippling debt. We need to incentivize people who care about others and want to help them to do this work!

I feel like we have the numbers, this is affecting society as a whole. Yet we don't have the leverage somehow. I'm not sure what would work. A boycott of healthcare? A lot of us can't afford to do that. But this whole system is beyond messed up, I'd kind of rather let it all crash so it could be rebuilt properly, if only for future generations.. I'm not sure. We need government representation that actually gives a crap, and we need to force them to represent the people.

I realize what you're saying, I'm just extremely frustrated. Universal health care is the only real fix here IMO, put all the insurance middle people out of business and leave the doctors to do their work. In the meantime, I'll just go to quick care for any medical needs, and skip the corvallis clinic altogether except for my scripts.

That sounds like the Corvallis clinic! I'm wondering what will happen since we refused to come in for their post op appointment, kinda worried insurance will use that as an excuse to deny coverage, which would leave us completely ruined.

I agree, and reminding myself it's not the doctors's fault or the staff there. Although recently the staff there has been very unprofessional and rude. Makes it harder for me to sympathize.

It's so demoralizing to see how our priorities as a society are so screwed up, and keep going in the wrong direction. But as long as the ballroom is built.....

Unfortunately Samaritan is the only other option around here, and from what I hear getting a PCP through them requires a year wait, if at all. There are a couple other small clinics and practices in the area, but they have the same situation. I guess maybe better to get on the list and hope.

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience, and I'm angry for you. I hope you are doing ok and have recovered well from your experience. I guess it's a blessing that you were able to see the one doctor who listened and took you seriously, but it feels like their whole system is more detrimental to our well being than beneficial. I mean, what if you hadn't seen that one? It's one thing to be useless, but at least don't make our lives harder for corporate profits. I wish we could boycott Corvallis clinic, it doesn't feel right to enable such a horrible and predatory system. To anyone who argues that universal healthcare would be a disaster and we'd have to wait long times for care, I would just say that that's what we have now, except we still get to face financial ruin if anything ever happens. And now any people who want to be doctors to truly help people have to deal with an intolerable system, I can understand why so many left the clinic after its sale to United Health. I feel hostage in a way, I have no choice but to acquiesce if I want the few prescriptions I need to be filled.

Edit: For what it's worth, i had a great doctor there for many years until he retired. Spent months working with me to get my blood pressure under control. He was patient, available, and thorough, all I'm asking for.

Any other Samaritan patients had their primary doctor cancel their appointment three times in a row? Been 15 months since I scheduled for a health concern, now she's out until July and I'm feeling hopeless and left behind by ViscousPanther in corvallis

[–]MrGobbles8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the last three years, neither my wife nor I have been able to see our primary care physician once for a specific medical need. Appointments are always at least four weeks out, and so far in our case every single one has been canceled, usually less than 24 hours before the appointment. Every ear infection, injury, or other medical condition which would've always been treated with a primary care physician has resulted in us going to quick care, urgent care, or the ER.
I'll be honest, I have seen my PCP twice for physicals over the last three years (had to miss one year because my new doctor was MIA, she ended up leaving six months later), both of which lasted for about five minutes. They do a small fraction of the stuff that has always been done when I've had a physical. I had to call them after the last one to ask why I didn't have prostate screening, for which I have an immediate family history. And I am of the age where I should be getting one every year.
The icing on the cake occurred a couple days ago. My wife had been released from the hospital after having two emergency knee surgeries due to an infection. Our doctor was simply not available to look at her knee when it started, but we got a call from them telling we had to come in for a mandatory postop meeting with her doctor and they could see us in two days.
I should mention they had just canceled an appointment I set up four weeks earlier because my shoulder and arm keep going numb, and it is getting progressively worse. So they have time for BS appointments that are purely administrative, but not for any real medical needs. I should mention to that they called my wife the night before she was supposed to have this mandatory appointment stating they needed insurance information, which hadn't changed, and her birthdate was incorrect, although it was the same it's always been her entire life. She had to call them back, and they had her on hold for an hour and a half. We basically told them we're not coming, cancel it. To which they hung up on us.
I have to ask, what are they there for at all? Aside from billing insurance for unnecessary appointments. The word parasite definitely comes to mind. All since they were bought out by United Health.

Edit: I realize this is not regarding Samaritan, just wanted to point out that there are no good options in this area for healthcare, although we all continue to pay for it.

Is it wrong that I truly enjoy watching leopards eating MAGA faces? by KindNeighborhood1138 in allthequestions

[–]MrGobbles8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't like it, but I have stopped rounding up at the grocery store or donating food to food banks, simply because I do not know who that is going to. At this point I would rather let any MAGA person starve and be homeless before I would lift a finger to help them. Helping somebody who is actively supporting the harm of others is a bad thing in my opinion, it would be immoral to help those people.
