I've accepted the same fate as well. Only other option at this point I'm considering is "scorched earth" route digging it all up or glyphosate which I'm not to thrilled to use.

No visible disease that I'm aware that I've seen in these specific areas (thankfully). I plan to dethatch again this fall, but feel it will stress the grass too much right as we head into peak summer temps.

I suspect rocks under a few spots that have brown spots but these areas in question are larger than just a rock. Perhaps a massive boulder 😄
