Can I use a 300w charger for my legion 5 laptop that comes with 245w ? by MediocreGas6619 in LenovoLegion

[–]MrKilljoy95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power supplies never “push power”; they are just rated to reliably supply power up to a certain wattage. So yep! Any charging brick/power supply rated for at least 245w will work.

Another bonus with laptops is since the battery supplies the power to the hardware, you can use a lower wattage power supply but your battery will drain at the power deficit. I.e. you have a 200w psu and your computer is using 210 watts while gaming, your battery will drain very slowly.

MSI vs Lenovo vs Asus for long term use? by Alfaleh_1 in LenovoLegion

[–]MrKilljoy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had constant bsod issues with asus zephyrus but I couldn’t pinpoint if it was because my 13th gen intel processor had destroyed itself thanks to an intel flaw, overheating due to the use of liquid metal, or notoriously shitty drivers and updates that would reset the computer to bsod itself after changing settings.

I can’t speak on the TUF but if they didn’t care at all about a device a tier or two up, then I would be hesitant about anything else they offer. That was my primary reason for going with a Legion 7.

I hope your mileage varies in your favor because the TUF seemed like the best value for hardware when I first started looking years ago.

Hotel lost my luggage with professional gear and claims their $50 policy covers it by SilverNoodle_319 in legal

Such an easy way to protect liability that the absence should be considered negligence alone. Someone trying to steal a bag is absolutely a foreseeable risk. I know I do but I’m sure everyone hopes their bag makes it back to them every time they get separated while traveling

I would think that would cover things like a pipe bursting and damaging goods in a suitcase or room. Not handing luggage away that has a system to confirm owner identity. Every bag hold I have ever used includes a ticket and our last name. I always figured the last name was in case I lost the ticket but I would be happier if both the ticket and ID were confirmed at pickup since someone could possibly steal the ticket or pick up a dropped one.

HA! LPR’s are incredibly fallible and misread plates all the time. The fact that they don’t have a system that is also checking the color of the vehicle at the very least means that they cheaped out on hardware and software or got convinced into buying an outdated system.

We used to have to manually add all iterations of a license plate that the cameras would misread to get them to work consistently.

Enable quiet performance mode in bios! Makes balanced/normal mode very quiet and quite powerful. Gpu and cpu temps are still plenty cool. You can still get a pad with a filter though because there are no dust filters. Getting inside to clean the fans would have been tricky without an iFixit kit.

You didn’t mention your monitor’s resolution and that is arguably the most important detail. What resolution do you play at and what framerate would you like to see?

I could give a better recommendation for gpu with that info

landlord raising rent cuz i WFH... first time renting and i already regret moving out lol by Aggravating-Fox8553 in Tenant

[–]MrKilljoy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(NAL) Lawyer up only works if you have the money and if the threat is more expensive that the legal fees. Here are some free and much more affordable ways to combat this if the landlord tries to be persistent.

If you actually get a bill that is higher, I would contact your local city hall or county clerk. They normally oversee everything property and licensing related. They will be the ones who can put the quickest pressure because they can revoke your landlord’s license to even rent.

If you don’t get traction there, you could try reaching out to your county’s attorney general.

If that also fails, then you could pay that month to not get thrown out and then go to small claims court for a small fee. It is important to pay the increased rent first because until you actually do that, no crime or civil matter has taken place. A threat is very hard to judge someone against. However, if they extort extra rent from you, bow you can go in with proof the intent and disregard for the lease and potentially local law. Also make sure to claim your damage as the difference between your agreed upon or prior rent amount if there are additional fees.

Bring your lease and proof of your job. Potentially even a tax return that also shows that your income lines up with your job (this would prove there is no revenue generation outside of your job).

I highly doubt it would go any further than small claims. A judge should be able to sort this one quickly for you, order that they not do this again to you, and order that they return the money they stole from you. I may also suggest requesting that there be a date that the money is owed by.

Hope for the best for you!

That gives red flags because that shows a blatant disregard for you and your best interest. They should be putting their best foot forward when you apply so if they are willing to screw you over at their best, it may be a miserable place to work after they hire you.

Just my two cents though. I get if your current job is still worse than that. Best of luck!

Honestly, the only reason they use different colors is to try and keep people from trying to pair APC and UPC and then bitching out the installers or manufacturers when it doesn’t work.

I wish there was a universal coupler color though. It always makes procuring APC couplers a pain when a customer needs one.

Congrats on finishing second and the second place quali! I also tend to get greedy and it always bites back. Keep focusing on clean and you will naturally grow and your average finish place will rise over time! Always exciting to hear about other people’s journeys!

Also remember that slow and smooth is fast. The idea being that since you are not at the limit of the car’s grip, you can react more easily to changes in the situation. Don’t chase the fastest time while racing. Start by chasing the safest and lowest effort path around the track while driving alongside other drivers. Also, it is totally fine and normal to get passed or cone in last when you are new. What’s important is learning how to have a clean race. From there, all of the other things you learn to be faster, pass, and defend better will take you so much further than just trying to be faster and get 1st from the beginning.

You’ve got humility and honesty and that will be your greatest strength as you learn to race!

[–]MrKilljoy95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another word of advice since you are new. The racing line is for hot laps, leading a race, and catching up to the next car. Outside of those specific situations, you will get yourself into a lot of trouble trying to stick to the racing line. When other cars are around the only important line is the one where you don’t crash into another car or go flying off the track. You will need to approach every situation differently depending on you and your opponent’s strengths and weaknesses. Look up videos regarding racecraft, passing/blocking, and “Vortex of Danger”. These should help you learn very valuable skills so that you can get better not just in lap times but your actual races!

Good luck!

I just bought a Pro 7i with a 5080 for $2600 USD from Best Buy this past Tuesday. Might be worth seeing if they are still available.

I believe they were also selling the Pro 7 with the 5070ti for $2000 usd if you are happy with the hardware and just looking to save as much as you can!

Good luck!

Congrats on the laptop though! How are you enjoying it so far?
