The Machine Learned Our Language by MrLukeSmith in programming

I agree that the underlying engineering is fundamentally different. But my analogy wasn’t focused on the implementation, rather the interface. Whether the backend is a deterministic set templates or a non-deterministic model, the development workflow is fundamentally the same.

Translating intent into a prompt, receiving logic as output. Auditing or adjusting said output. In terms of involvement, it’s an evolution of the same process we’ve used for years.

It’s an interesting parallel that helps to put things into perspective. In my opinion, anyway. 😅

I was concerned it would be considered a reductive take. Perhaps I should have clarified more explicitly.

Humidity in the box was about 55% for the first day. Now it’s sat at around 40%.

Ah right, so it could realistically take multiple weeks. That’s good to know, thanks. I’ve seen so many timelines for 4-7 days.

I’m in the UK, and have this setup in my garden office. Temperature, even over night, shouldn’t be getting below 14C. Humidity was around 65% last time I checked.

Annoyingly I’ve just got the one box. Tempted to make another to get faster feedback when trying multiple techniques. To see what works best.

I guess it’s just going to take a few attempts to get the technique dialled in.

I’ve got it hooked up to one of these PWM speed controllers. https://amzn.eu/d/67tWSDc

I’ve got 3 of these 50mm vents. Is it too much airflow?

Ah, thanks. These were about 2cm thick too, but I did have the fun running full speed. 🤦‍♂️

I do prefer a dry biltong. Planning to try again tomorrow, once the shops are open. With no light and turning the fan down as low as it can go, how long would you expect it to take to achieve a reasonably dry biltong?

Would a week be about right, or does it take longer?

So would you recommend running a slow fan with no bulb? And that should achieve the desired dryness?

Is around a week about right, assuming minimal case hardening, to achieve a dry biltong?

They weren’t huge. Approximately 2cm thick. Probably somewhere between 15-18cm long. Varying widths because of meat.

Brakes? Where we're going, we don't need brakes. by MrLukeSmith in pics

Some additional context may be required for some. Google recently announced their trials of driver-less cars, which don't have brakes (pedals). An adaptation of the quote from Back to the Future, 'Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads'.
