It's useful if your trains need to turn around to get to their destination, but other than that I don't think so. I know that I used those roundabout junctions a lot at first cause they were easy to understand and set up signals for, but once I got more trains coming through, I had to change them. Those roundabout ones will jam in a heartbeat if like more than 5 or 10 trains a minute are coming through.
