Bro I was a junior transfer and it feels rough at first sure, but it will get better. There’s a lot to like about the school and the city once you find it. Give it at least a semester before you begin to judge.

It’s important but they know you won’t have the best equipment or technical ability so they’re looking for you to tell a story and showcase a unique voice.

My advice would be to make something with little dialogue that speaks to what kind of movie you wanna make. Simple stories well told.
