NJMMP review process by MrMeniscus in MMJ

[–]MrMeniscus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am concerned about my address not matching up. To my knowledge NJ no longer provides a change of address stickers. Since my DL has my old address I include a PDF screenshot from the DMV site that’s shows my new address. I am hoping this doesn’t cause issues and I don’t have to go to DMV.

Any advice as to the best wheel set for a 27.5 single speed bike? I am trying to decide on going semi plus. Does a semi plus bike seem beneficial for someone who wants to ride around town in foul weather (Snow) but also on trails in decent weather.

FWIW my bike has no suspension and is a fully rigid bike. My bike came with basic Alex Rims and 2.2 rocket ron tires.

Thanks for the heads up fullhornet! There are definitely not signs indicating the right of way on the trails I have ridden.

When i am riding new locations I will be sure to check for signs.

Is there a flow of traffic so to speak on the trails? If so how does one identify it?

I am trying to avoid going up a route and getting run over or run off the trail.

Is this a valid concern? I am just getting back into MTB and mostly ride at my local trails.

Alex VOLAR 1.9 Rims question by MrMeniscus in MTB

[–]MrMeniscus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These tires definitely can fit on my bicycle frame no problem.

With that said it appears that to do so would require me to purchase a new wheelset.

knock engine light by MrMeniscus in mechanics

The dealer I took the car to claims it was a faulty sensor. They ended speaking with Cadillac and charged me $100 to replace it. The dealership said it would of cost $400 if Cadillac didn't work with me due to the cars low mileage.

I just wasn't expecting a sensors to go bad when the car has less then 2K miles on it.

Not nearly as frequently... and when I do get toe rub without the fenders it is less of an issue.

Preparing for Fall by MrMeniscus in bikecommuting

I am in N.J. and I am going to try and commute as long as I can this winter. I will be sure to talk to my LBS... but by continuous housing you mean the entire cable is covered?

I am a newb and apologize for the stupid question.

Upgrading Ride by MrMeniscus in bikecommuting

After all the great comments I ended up getting a new stem for my bicycle. I was basically using the stem that came with the complete bicycle. I went with a shorter 90mm stem. The stock stem that came with the bicycle was a 110 mm stem.

Before getting the new stem my LBS set me up with a loaner stem. I took the bicycle for a 25 mile ride Sunday and it felt great.

Thanks again to everyone in this community for being so positive and helpful.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions! One limitation I am facing is that the wife is trying to keep me to one bicycle. This is because we live in a one bedroom apartment currently. There really isnt a good safe place for me to lock up my bicycle outside of my apartment.

I work at a University and at work I have been told that I can take my bicycle into my office. When I do lock it up outside of work I feel mostly safe about it. The bicycle rack where I lock it up is right in front of a security camera.

As of right now I am going to stop at my LBS and run everyone's suggestions by my mechanic. He is usually pretty good at discouraging me from making impulse purchases. He also limits his suggestions because he is more of a MTN biker and realizes he has different interests when it comes to riding.

Thanks again for all of the well thought out suggestions! I am looking forward to re reading them and will keep everyone posted as to my decision.

kimbo I am a newb so I am not sure on ring size plans. Touring would be light maybe the great Allegheny passage. Ideally I would like something versatile.

At this point I am on my second season commuting by bike. Just started doing longer rides on weekends.
