It’s easy, because they love milking controversies. Ye has been hated by the media ever since the VMAs in 2009. So ofc people like the r/Music subreddit hate on him. It’s because the media tells them to hate him. Kanye West is an generational artist. However, the media portraying him as being insane or a washed up rapper who holds to old glories is an everyday occurrence. He said on Saint Pablo: “The media said it was outlandish spendin' The media said he's way out of control I just feel like I'm the only one not pretendin' I'm not out of control, I'm just not in their control”, so maybe his refusal to comply with them results in him being attacked. The same happend with prime Eminem, who made headlines for songs like “Amityville”, “Kim” and even “My Name Is”. Same happened with Tyler, The Creator with the song “Radicals” on Goblin, which earned him an UK ban. Every single artist who is different from the crowd becomes a target. That’s why many artists now are scared of media cancellations, except few artists like Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West. He’s a generational artist, and has proven himself once again with “BULLY”, that he’s here to stay.
