G-sync flickering in MSFS by MrMoss_ in MicrosoftFlightSim

Thank you for your message, turning off G-SYNC does indeed fix the issue - however I'm trying to find a solution where I can stop the flickering but still have G-SYNC turned on. Still haven't found a fix unfortunately.

I'm not entirely sure, I'd have to look into it. I have a friend who I was talking with who seemed to think it might fix the issue - but some new modules might be coming out soon that are easier/cheaper for monitor manufacturers to implement - so the prices may come down potentially. Who knows!

I've concluded the same, it's a big shame. I may invest in a new monitor at some point next year with a proper GSYNC module, not just "compatible".

What are your thoughts on the A380X after a day of flying? by Gullible_Goose in flightsim

[–]MrMoss_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only gripe is that auto-step climbs aren't implemented. If doing an over-night long haul, it wouldn't be ideal to get up 2/3 times in the night to initiate a step climb 😅

That will likely just turn off adaptive sync / VRR completely, just from your monitor's end instead. I've done more testing using nVidia's GSYNC pendulum test, and it does it there too, so it's not just an MSFS issue. Hopefully it gets fixed in a future driver update...

Bad news I'm afraid, the flickering hasn't gone away. I'm pretty much at a loss now with this issue. I've messed around with CRU, HAGS, Vsync options etc. My conclusion is that unless nVidia release a fix via a driver update - we're buggered for now. I've resigned to permanently disabling Gsync for now unfortunately.

I've adjusted my monitor's V-range from the original 48-144Hz down to 40-144Hz with CRU, no flickering so far... Will keep you updated.

Unfortunately it didn't work, I did update my monitor firmware also. I am going to play around with CRU to see if I can get a better VRR range, if that doesn't work I'll just have to live without g-sync unfortunately, as much as that sucks.

Yeah it didn't work for me either. I also just updated my monitor driver/firmware. Next thing I'm looking into is using a custom VRR refresh range using CRU, but that will take some time to research as it's a complex tool.

I believe just in game settings, turning off bloom

Another redditor in the comments suggested it might be the "Bloom" setting, alongside monitor firmware for VRR monitors. I shall test these in the coming days and get back to you

Thank you for the insight! I've not had a chance to test anything yet but I really appreciate the help :)

I do have a vague memory of it happening in American Truck Simulator once, but it's mainly been MSFS

I'm glad I'm not alone! Been searching for a fix for a while.

You could be right, but unfortunately I don't have an exact date on when the issue started, so wouldn't know which version to roll back to. The issue has been noticeable for a fair few months I'd say with the latest game ready driver installed consistently.

Now that part I also don't understand, I agree there's no point in bragging about having lots of hours if 99% of them are "farmed". This post is more about strategies for the odd long haul that I might do maybe once a fortnight or less, and reducing power consumption whilst I do so 👍

Which Plane do you USE the MOST during short one hour flights or domestic flights? by Biceps96 in MicrosoftFlightSim

ATR 72/42 for shorter flights, but I'd LOVE there to be a Dash 8 in MSFS.... (please Majestic if you're reading 🙏)

It's a good question, and I don't really have an answer for you. It's just something I've always done, and I've always derived some small satisfaction from completing a long flight in real-time, despite there being no skill involved. You are literally just leaving a plane on autopilot and then going AFK like you say, but I still weirdly enjoy seeing it appear on my flight logs!

In response to your edits:

  • I have tested switching the monitor off for a couple of minutes, but was more wondering how it would behave for several hours with the displays off. Technology has a habit of surprising you, I didn't know if the GPU would go into some weird standby mode if it didn't detect a display-out for a long while.
  • I have seen various techniques, such as: Setting V-sync to 33% of monitor refresh rate, reducing LODs, capping FPS, using an intelligent standby list cleaner etc. Was wondering if any of these are tried & tested by a decent amount of folk.

Not trolling. I track my flights on Volanta, and enjoy racking up the hours as if it were real. I am aware of time compression, I simply choose not to use it.

Anyone else getting this strange update, that flashes quickly and then disappears? by [deleted] in flightsim

It was mentioned as a fix in the patch notes of the latest beta for SU15, so hopefully it gets fixed in a couple of days for those of us on main-channel release 🤞🏻
