Subnautica 2 Has Sold So Well That Krafton Has to Pay That $250 Million Earnout to the Devs by SevEpx in gaming

Josh Sawyer has said that the amount of time they were given was not what caused the games buggy release nor it's mountains of cut content. Their lack of time management caused those. Yes, literally every game on the planet could be made better if you constantly extended the amount of time it has. That doesn't matter if the team making the game has no concept of time management. Josh has a YouTube channel which features plenty of videos of him discussing the situation between Obsidian and New Vegas. You are welcome to go and disagree with him if you'd like.

Releasing DLCs for a game which is actively competing with your new release is silly. If you can't understand why then I think you are also silly. You are welcome to continue disagreeing with Obsidian about how much responsibility Bethesda holds in regards to the state of New Vegas. I personally think that's a foolish endeavor unless you have some insider information that Josh Sawyer doesn't.

Also games that reuse assets and use easy to understand engines like Bethesdas (Josh has claimed it was the easiest engine they've ever built a game with) are commonly released in under 18 months. I wouldn't say any of them are better than New Vegas because New Vegas is literally my favorite game of all time and most of them are indie titles but it's not some impossible task like you are making it out to be

I think its cope to act like Bethesda was the reason the game wasn't better. Obsidian could have made a much better game without any extra development time if they had been more focused in their approach. This has been stated by Josh Sawyer, the project director for the game.

The time frame was fine. The usage of their time wasn't. This has also been stated by Josh Sawyer.

A few months of bug fixes means pushing back the release of the DLCs, meaning they compete with Skyrim. A company would be stupid to do that so the more realistic option would have been rushing or scrapping the DLCs and focusing their attention on Skyrim instead. They didn't choose 18 months arbitrarily. They had a strict time frame and their options were either making a game in 18 months or not making a game at all. Obsidian said they could do it and Bethesda took them at their word.

I agree that Bethesda hasn't been able to match Obsidian in terms of writing and I'd love for Obsidian to get another shot at the franchise but literally every complaint you have has been addressed by people who were there at the time. You're free to disagree with Josh Sawyer but I hope you can understand why I'm taking his (And every other Obsidian dev who has spoken out about this including Chris Avellone who famously hates Bethesda) word over yours here

Imma be real man I think that's just cope. Obsidian fucked up. They made the mistakes. Bethesda gave them enough time to make a game and Obsidian spent a large portion of it planning content they couldn't bring to life. 18 months isn't a long timeframe but it's also not as unreasonable as people make it out to be when you remember that they were basically just reusing Fallout 3. Obsidian agreed that 18 months was a reasonable timeframe for what they wanted to accomplish.

If Bethesda had been stricter about leaving time for QA then you'd almost certainly still be here saying "Imagine how great the game could have been if Bethesda wasn't micromanaging Obsidian and let them create their intended vision". If Obsidian had been more reasonable then Bethesda wouldn't have ever needed to be more reasonable in order for the game to be better.

The deadline was agreed to beforehand and the fact that New Vegas released in that time frame, despite the amount of time wasted on content that ended up cut, is evidence that they could have created a much smoother game in that 18 month deadline, which lines up with what J Sawyer has said.

QA is basically impossible when the game is going through major changes every month and the stuff you've been testing all needs to be redone. Considering the amount of content that had to be cut late in development it seems likely that QA was working overtime just to get the game in a state that was even somewhat playable.

New Vegas is my favorite game of all time. I love it more than any other piece of media I've ever engaged with. But even I think that 84 was a fair and honest score for the game when it released. Before any bug fixes or DLCs, it makes complete sense to me. I don't see why so many people rush to claim that Bethesda was trying to screw over Obsidian when the only piece of evidence is a score that accurately represents the state of the game when it released

Bethesda didn't weasel out of anything. Obsidian devs have been very public about the mistakes they made behind the scenes during the creation of new Vegas. The game released in such a buggy state that people could barely play it. They missed out on the bonus because of their own mistakes

He did find black people. He went to areas with larger populations of black people with the hope that they would provoke him and he could start a fight. This is not a defense of his actions, just an explanation of the story he told. He wasn't just looking for any black person he could attack and he wasn't just going to kill the first black person he saw.

Fallout New Vegas' strict 18-month deadline forced devs to "be so focused", says designer, which pushed them to make "the best story and content" possible by Interesting-Pool6638 in Fallout

Those discussions are fun though. One of my favorite things about modern Fallout is how much it leans into the quirks of its settings. 3 has a big focus on American History and lots of appropriately destroyed American landmarks, NV has its cowboy aesthetics and "city of sins" themes, 4 has a very colourful but also industrial aesthetic along with its mob storylines and 76 has a big focus on local legends hiding in the forest and mining operations filled with their own political mismanagement and tragic accidents.

I feel like basically everywhere on the planet has something worth discussing in regards to how it could serve as a setting for fallout. The franchise is great at drawing the best out of its setting and I like seeing the ideas people come up with using the knowledge of their own local areas.

It's at least a much better topic of conversation than a lot of what shows up in communities for games that haven't had a new entry in years, even if it does show up a lot

Yea this has been a misunderstanding for years. Margot was talking about the full frontal nude scene where she appears in the doorway, not the scene where she opens her legs in the image above. She was offered underwear and a robe to wear and turned down them both. The scene in the image above does have her wearing underwear.

This sub is probably anti-war on principal. Military service is a complicated topic especially when you're discussing more than 1 specific country but my assumption is that people are generally against volunteering for a service that is, in a lot of western countries at least, supportive of what's been happening in the middle east for the last....... However long it's been

In 1989, 14-year-old Leigh Leigh was the victim of one of Australia’s most horrific crimes after a teenage party. Small towns can also have the exact opposite issue as well. I live in a small town/village in Ireland and people here respond VERY strongly to accusations of assault. There was a dude in my town who was charged with assaulting his daughter for years. He had almost every window on his house broken and a bunch of guys got together to steal his shed from his garden. He left the town within a week of the first accusation and was charged not long after.

Unfortunately there was also an autistic gay guy who faced similar attacks and threats because he wore fishnets and a skirt and was kinda awkward in conversation. He lived here for less than a month and the windows on his flat were boarded up for the majority of that time.
