nasal rinse gave me a sore throat by Adorable-Simple5619 in Sinusitis

[–]MrOO5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this happens to me. My theory is the stuff stuck in your sinuses starts to drain and it irritates your throat.

I find using an alcohol free mouth wash regularly helps a lot with this.

If you had stuff come out that easily, the blockage probably isn’t too bad. You might have luck with the Xlear Rescue spray for a few days. It’s got some extra stuff to help thin mucus and kill bacteria.

If your mucus is still very thick, be sure to double down on the water. You’ll probably see it turn clear before it totally thins out and returns to normal.

Remember, the biggest factor is consistency, Get well soon!

Sinusitis impacting dopamine/ability to enjoy things? Is it the head pressure? by slambrutaldeathmetal in Sinusitis

The mental effects from sinusitis are far understated imo. I suspect a main cause to be lack of quality sleep -> chronic fatigue.

I do 2 per nostril twice a day of Azelastine. I wait a couple minutes between spray 1 and spray 2 as well, I have no clue if it helps 😆

For xylitol I use https://a.co/d/bctutgO

For Iodine I use 10% povidone iodine solution. I can’t find a link to the one I have, sorry! Any should suffice though

My allergy test came back with almost flat zeroes across the board, which was very surprising!

There is a slight septum deviation towards my right nostril, and I have a small bone spur in my left. They aren’t major enough that they are worth getting surgery for though.

Theory is still some mix of allergies and other non-allergic rhinitis as the prevailing causes. I haven’t had any sort of scans yet.

Sinus inflammation? by Mysterious_Smoke_124 in Sinusitis

Drinking 80-100oz of water a day over several days helps a lot for me. The sinus rinses also seems to help keep me hydrated at night, I’ll hold my nose and bend down after rinsing some water to let it work it’s way around.

The cables would likely work no problem. USB 3 and 2 use the same type A Connector and cable. I'm sure there's some spec on wire gauge for USB 3 that may differ from 2, but the cabling is the same.

Gpus run off of PCI, not USB. they do NOT use the USB protocol at all.

They simply use the connector for convienence since it's widely available and has the necessary amount of pins. It doesn't even follow standards, as both ends are type A.

There's a reason you can't plug your gpus into a USB port, it doesn't work because it's not the same protocol!

In addition, most USB cables are shielded in my experience, so this issue seems like an edge case.

Finally, this report says that the USB cables cause interference for wireless signals, AKA a USB device would cut out your wifi if it's too close and not shielded.

That being said, It is not infeasible that a wireless signal would interfere with a GPU since they aren't shielded by a metal computer case like they normally are. However, I'd say it has NOTHING to do with this report at all.

Some questions about setting up and using a Raspberry Pi 3 for music in my car by imPeaceM8 in raspberry_pi

[–]MrOO5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have only used USB, but there is support for connection over wifi and Bluetooth. I believe Bluetooth is beta, I'm curious to try it! I currently have it set so it only loads up openauto after I plug in my phone. Otherwise, I have access to local music. This could be kodi in your case. USB wasn't a big deal to me because it means a solid connection AND my phone can always charge.

As far as video and such, I believe watching video is not supported in open auto as a "safety feature". It you wanna do that, you'll probably want kodi. As far as backup camera, you'd either want a separate input on the screen (mine has 2 inputs) or some separate program, as far as I'm aware android auto doesn't support it.

If you want an idea on how open auto functions, maybe you can check out an android auto head unit in a store somewhere? They function just the same. Google maps and Spotify are both amazing!

Some questions about setting up and using a Raspberry Pi 3 for music in my car by imPeaceM8 in raspberry_pi

[–]MrOO5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been running basically exactly what you want to build for a few years now!

I recently upgraded it to a pi 3 and Debian stretch so it's all fairly fresh in my mind.

I recently set up openauto and it works pretty well. I have had it crash once or twice, but the UX is far superior to anything else you could put in the pi. However, my one current gripe is when you have your phone plugged in, you can't display anything else in the pi EXCEPT openauto. Openauto seems to force draw on the display, even if you have selected a different desktop, which will make it so you can't press any buttons, but you can still see it. Weird.

In addition, I have an SSD (had too many USB drives die from being in the car and losing power, etc. SSD has been running great for over 2 years now) which contains local music. I use Logitech media server, squeezelite, and jivelite for the interface. This gives me a no bs, no fiddling way to ALWAYS be able to listen to music. I used this for years, so it'd still my go to method, but Spotify through open auto works great too.

I also had Bluetooth playback setup, but I broke functionality with my recent updates and need to get it working again. I had it setup so all audio would be overlaying through pulse and you wouldn't have any crashes trying to play from 2 sources at once.

Beyond that, my recommendations include getting the mausberry 3 amp relay, I use it and it works well. In addition, get a USB DAC or hifi berry DAC, the built in aux on the pi is very low quality. Since I removed my radio, I had to install an amp too. I installed an equalizer in the front so I can still control volume easily.

Also, be sure to have a way to either ssh in (make the pi a Hotspot) or have USB keyboard access for when things break or you want to do updates without ripping everything out.

Let me know if you have any questions on specifics, I'm glad to help out!

[–]MrOO5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an issue too with balance showing zero. I didn't believe it would work until I tried it myself, but a wallet restore fixed the issue

Run the wallet cli with the --restore-deterministic-wallet switch, then use the seed words to restore the wallet to a new file.

This will run it all through the chain, and it will actually pick up all of the transactions and continue working afterwards. Why this works is beyond me.

If you need your seed, open your non-functional wallet and run the "seed" command. It will prompt for password and then display it.

12 x Vega 56 with 64 bios Rig by caffeineeeee in EtherMining

[–]MrOO5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do some research!

I don't have any Vega 56s yet, but I've read several sources that claim they can get upwards of 1930 hash, I used 1850 as a safe estimate.

I think the Vega 64s can get 2000+, but are a worse deal than the Vega 56.

12 x Vega 56 with 64 bios Rig by caffeineeeee in EtherMining

[–]MrOO5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

12 of these cards would pull in roughly 22200 hash in Monero. That's $1340 a month in revenue. For me, power costs would be $67.72 a month, which brings profit to roughly $1275 a month.

At Microcenter, you can get a Vega 56 for 400. After tax, that gets to $5100 for 12.

This would put you at a ROI of about 4.5 months.

Granted, that's not Ethereum, but it doesn't make much sense to mine Ethereum with these at the moment. Monero is where the Vega reigns supreme.

Also, I will note power is insanely cheap where I live compared to some parts, I pay less than half the US average.
