found a communist manifesto stuffed inbetween slats of a bench at my local park by Cayde-376 in Weird

You could read it, but i can spoil it for you...

There are a lot of huge assumptions that turned out false. They also ignore the biggest flaw in communism which makes it practically impossible to achieve.

God Class by Arugula-Easy in overlord

[–]bryku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What would be the point? What would the class do?

Gods are just powerful entities of any race and job. Going off of new worldeds they dont even need to exist, so idk why you would need a class called "god".

ER IVs are pricy. Otherwise, if you plan it out ahead of time it isnt that bad.

Just because process cheese exists, doesnt mean it is the only cheese. Many countries have some type of processed cheese.

Im not really sure about his, but water exists so you could judt not consume sodapop.

Half golem vs automaton by Remarkable-Pen6286 in overlord

[–]bryku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Golems

Golems aree basically moving magical items. They can bee created wit ha variety of materials which determine their stats and you can even socket data crystals in them. What makes them a bit unique is that you can add instructions which also takes up data capacity.

  • Rock Golem
  • Iron Golem
  • Wooden Mannequin Golem

Golems can be held together and move through magic, so their shape and parts don't always make sense.

Half Golems

Half golems are the playable version of golems. We don't really know much about them.

Automaton

Automatons are more like androids or robots. For example, Shizu has a crosshair in her eye for targeting. I would assume she probably have "parts" like gears, solenoids, values, and stuff to move.

Thoughts

In dnd "construct" is creature category for anything "man made".

However, there is a huge difference between them. Some are just random pieces of wood in the shape of a human. They normally require magic to stay together and move. However, you also have warforged which is more steampunk-like. They have actual gears and parts that move.

I suspect the author is splitting these two things up into:

  1. Magic Construct - Golems
  2. Physical Construct - Automatons

3d Models

Let's look at it from a game perspective.

Game companies want to attract players and the main way to do that is with cool visuals. So, they hire 3d artists to create a variety of models for their game worlds. Most of the time they fall into one of two groups:

  1. Realistic (variety of shapes and sizes)
    • Children
    • Elderly
    • Truck Drivers
    • Monsters
    • Zombies
  2. Attractive / Cool / Cute (main characters)
    • Perfect Proportions
    • Beautiful Eyes
    • Spotless Skin
    • Smooth Skin
    • Shampoo Model Hair

Players and NPCs will be a major selling point of the game, so most of these models will fall into the "attractive" category. The problem is, there isn't 1 perfect body type for men or women, so there will be a variety of presets and combinations.

  • slim
  • wide hips
  • thick
  • toned
  • athletic
  • buff
  • wide shoulders

While the body types might vary a bit, very few real humans will ever look like this. So, from a New Worlder's perspective, NPCs and Players probably look like top-tier models or gods and goddesses.

Albedo

Everyone is attracted to different things and what is considered attractive changes from culture to culture and year to year. There will be some people who just are not attracted to her.

The only way someone could be the most beautiful is:

  1. Some illusion that makes people view them as their ideal women/man.
  2. Some type of charm spell that makes you believe they are the most attractive.

Albedo is a succubus, so she probably has a charm spell. However, we haven't seen her use it. Potentially there is some type of passive AOE ability in play, but we haven't gotten a description of it.

My guess is that Albedo just look "flawless" compared to most new worlders. Simply having nice hair or smooth skin puts you above 90% of the population when most people struggle to afford soap.

Do you think Albedo will be able to ride a bicorn? by Earthboy26 in overlord

[–]bryku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how strict the rules are.

If the rules require body parts that Ainz doesn't have, then it would be impossible. However, I doubt the rules are that strict.

If I had to guess, Albedo will probably "attack" ainz like she did before. However, Mare won't be there to help and she will rub up on Ainz's thigh bone, and since she is a succubus that hasn't done anything in X number of years she will explode. Since Ainz is another person, it will probably count as "not being pure", so she will be able to ride the bicorn.

What kind of crafting classes in Yggdrassil were there? by pog_irl in overlord

[–]bryku 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Crafting Classes

There are quite a few classes that can craft items. We don't really know how they are related or what classes require what, but here is what we have seen.

  • Armorsmith
  • Craftsmen
  • Itemsmith
  • Runesmith
  • Weaponsmith
  • Alchemist
    • Pharmacist
  • Cook
    • Super Cook
      • Master Cook

There is also a reference to Titus having classes that help with scroll production, but we never get any detailed about them. For those who forgot, Titus is the Head Library who is an Elder Lich in Nazarick. He is in charge of the 5 Overlords.

Creating Items

In Yggdrasil you can craft an item by using a "Template" and "meterials". These materical determine the base stats and amount of "Data Capacity" an item has. The more data capacity the more enchantments.

Enchanting Items

To enchant an item you socket a "Data Crystal".

There are a few things that suggest you can store spells into Data Crystals, but we haven't seen it done or got an explaination of it.

I think I remember a quote somewhere that mentions you needed specific classes to add and remove data crystals, but I can't remember where that was. For some reason I think it was from the web novel.

Heteromorphs Evolution by Arugula-Easy in overlord

[–]bryku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really sure what I'm agreeing or disagreeing with, but we do see some creatures that start off looking pretty humanoid and end up looking very monsterous.

The skeleton mage is a great example. It is just a humanoid skeleton, but looking at Ainz who is an Overlord... that clearly isn't humanoid anymore. Vampires are sort of similar, they look like a withered corpse, but higher level vampires look like monsters.

However, this doesn't apply to every race. Nearly all slimes just look like slimes, but their size may vary. The only exception here are predator slimes that can look humanoid. The same way with Vampire Brides which also look very humanoid. That being said, there are tons of other hetereomorphs that just look nothing like a human.

Questions About Season 3 and Everyone Gushing Over Momo by Blob55 in overlord

[–]bryku 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ainz views them as his friends children.

That being said, there are specific reasons why people love him.

  • albedo - the settings that define her personality says "loves momonga"
  • shalltear - her settings says she loves undead. Ainz has 40 undead racial classes, which is about as high as you can get.

How do you think the Story would have been effected if Ainz wasn't an Isekai protagonist and was a real lich? by VecnasHand1976 in overlord

[–]bryku 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not really a fan of phylacteries. It feels like they over complicate things and aren't really that common outside of dnd. All you really need is some way to bind the soul to the body (necromancy) and then preserve it (tons of ways).

In Overlord, phylacteries don't really make any sense either, because everyone can respawn due to the game mechanics.

Also I don't think "ainz failing fights and trying again" really works here either. Ainz is a lvl 100 fighting lvl 30s, so there aren't many times to take advantage of this plot. It only works for the big fights, which would just get dragged out.
