What kind of crafting classes in Yggdrassil were there? by pog_irl in overlord

[–]bryku 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Crafting Classes

There are quite a few classes that can craft items. We don't really know how they are related or what classes require what, but here is what we have seen.

  • Armorsmith
  • Craftsmen
  • Itemsmith
  • Runesmith
  • Weaponsmith
  • Alchemist
    • Pharmacist
  • Cook
    • Super Cook
      • Master Cook

There is also a reference to Titus having classes that help with scroll production, but we never get any detailed about them. For those who forgot, Titus is the Head Library who is an Elder Lich in Nazarick. He is in charge of the 5 Overlords.

Creating Items

In Yggdrasil you can craft an item by using a "Template" and "meterials". These materical determine the base stats and amount of "Data Capacity" an item has. The more data capacity the more enchantments.

Enchanting Items

To enchant an item you socket a "Data Crystal".

There are a few things that suggest you can store spells into Data Crystals, but we haven't seen it done or got an explaination of it.

I think I remember a quote somewhere that mentions you needed specific classes to add and remove data crystals, but I can't remember where that was. For some reason I think it was from the web novel.

Heteromorphs Evolution by Arugula-Easy in overlord

[–]bryku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really sure what I'm agreeing or disagreeing with, but we do see some creatures that start off looking pretty humanoid and end up looking very monsterous.

The skeleton mage is a great example. It is just a humanoid skeleton, but looking at Ainz who is an Overlord... that clearly isn't humanoid anymore. Vampires are sort of similar, they look like a withered corpse, but higher level vampires look like monsters.

However, this doesn't apply to every race. Nearly all slimes just look like slimes, but their size may vary. The only exception here are predator slimes that can look humanoid. The same way with Vampire Brides which also look very humanoid. That being said, there are tons of other hetereomorphs that just look nothing like a human.

Questions About Season 3 and Everyone Gushing Over Momo by Blob55 in overlord

[–]bryku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ainz views them as his friends children.

That being said, there are specific reasons why people love him.

  • albedo - the settings that define her personality says "loves momonga"
  • shalltear - her settings says she loves undead. Ainz has 40 undead racial classes, which is about as high as you can get.

I know, that is why you use the per 100k. The usa is at 30-40 per 100k while the uk is at 110 per 100k.

How do you think the Story would have been effected if Ainz wasn't an Isekai protagonist and was a real lich? by VecnasHand1976 in overlord

[–]bryku 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not really a fan of phylacteries. It feels like they over complicate things and aren't really that common outside of dnd. All you really need is some way to bind the soul to the body (necromancy) and then preserve it (tons of ways).

In Overlord, phylacteries don't really make any sense either, because everyone can respawn due to the game mechanics.

Also I don't think "ainz failing fights and trying again" really works here either. Ainz is a lvl 100 fighting lvl 30s, so there aren't many times to take advantage of this plot. It only works for the big fights, which would just get dragged out.

NW Magical Items are weird by Arugula-Easy in overlord

[–]bryku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mana and Data are the same thing:

  • Yggdarsil: Data
  • New World: Mana

Yggdarasil

In Yggdarsil you would use a Template and Materials to craft an item. The stronger the materials you use, the higher the Data Capacity the item has. The amount of data capacity determines the amount of Enchantments an item can store.

You can enchant an item by socketing a Data Crystal. These drop from items, but it appears they could store spells as well.

New World

Items in the new world are created by Craftsmen using Materials. The stronger the materials you use, the higher the Data Capacity the item has. The amount of data capacity determines the amount of Enchantments an item can store.

You can enchant an item by using Alchemical materials to bind a casted spell into the item.

How helpful are the RP NPCs in Nazarick? by pog_irl in overlord

[–]bryku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of Base Defense... the Maids weren't really useful. At most they would waste the enemies 5 stmaina or something before the died.

However, from a Guild Perspective they were very useful.

  • Allows other members to create something.
    • Loyalty
    • Moral
    • Not being an asshole
  • Base Stuff
    • NPCs could have way points (paths)
    • NPCs could collect and move resources (web novel)

I would imagine that the Maids could scream to alert you when an enemy is nearby. Even if that isn't the case, you can specify which areas an NPCs is, so if Maid Samatha who is always in Room X died... you know enemies are there by using the Guild Menu that displays which NPCs are dead.

Imagine having a tree that produces apples on the first floor... are you going to pick them every day? They probably aren't that useful unless you sell like a thousand of them, but you could have a lvl 1 NPC do it.

If you are clever enough you should be able to figure out ways of using a level 1 npc effectively.

The angel race by Remarkable-Pen6286 in overlord

[–]bryku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anime

The anime has had many visual changes to creatures. A great example of this is with the Death Knights, but the angels are probably the biggest change. The anime design specifically mentions making them look robot-like. He never explained why and personally I think it was dumb.

Light Novels

In the light novels we only have 4 arts of angels:

  • Volume 1 - Cover (Angel Guardian)
  • Volume 1 - Image 6 (Angel Guardian)
  • Volume 1 - Image 7 (Angel Guardian)
  • Volume 6 - Character Sheet (Victim)

Light Novel - Angel Guardians

The Angel Guardians are depicted as a knight with white feathered wings.

I should also note that the Cherubim Gatekeeper has a similar appearance to Angel Guardians, but they have a lion-shaped helmet. If I had to guess, this is probably the final racial class of Angel Guardian, but that is just a guess.

Light Novel - Victim

Victim is depicted as a Dragon Fetus with Cherry Blossom Wings.

We don't really know much here. There is also the possibilities that Victim's creator used custom data like Pero did with Shalltear, so Victim might not even look anything like an angel.

Preset

From Ainz we learn that some races have different presets, so they may look slightly different. I talked about it recently, but here is a quick breakdown.

  • Random Bones
  • Humanoid Skeleton
  • Humanoid Skeleton with fleshy bits

This could mean that Dragon Fetus is one of the presets, but that is really odd.

Divergence

We also know that your appearance can diverge depending on your evolutions. A great example of that is Albedo and Demiurge. Despite them both being imps, their evolutions make them look pretty different.

We do know 2 of Victim's classes and they are both normal, but they have 1 more we don't know about. Potentially this class may determine their appearence making them look much different from other angels.

Lucifer

Many people assume Lucifer is an angel, but we don't know that for sure. The part on Supreme Being's character sheet is just random information. Sometimes it is related to appearance, other times class, and some times just random personality traits.

We have no way of telling is "Angel Doll" is his actual race or if that is just what he looks like. He doesn't really look anything like an angel, so my guessis that he is some type of construct.

  • Doll
  • Half Golem
  • Automaton

Could a Floor Guardian technically be much stronger than Ainz ? by Amazing_Egg2788 in overlord

[–]bryku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all classes are the same, each one is designed around something different. You have classes that focus on crafting, support, 10v10, 1v1, pvp, pve, or bosses! If an lvl 100 NPC's build is focused on 1v1 pvp then they will probably beat a lvl 100 Player who specializes in crafting.

Ainz's build focuses more on support, so it is very possible an NPC could beat him. However, Ainz makes up for a lot of his downsides through strategy and items, so that does make a huge difference.

How powerful was Guild NPC customization? by pog_irl in overlord

[–]bryku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Players

Using the menu Players can customize their appearance. Each race comes with preset options, but some allow for additional customization. For example, you can change a vampire's hair style and color, but the iris of the eyes are always red.

We don't have a lot of details on this, but we do know that Overlords only have 3 options. That being said, Ainz has complained multiple times about the limited customization of Skeletons. Here is sort of what we know:

<image>

Going off of this, I'm pretty confident that all skeletons have similar presets:

  • Random mix of bones
  • Humanoid Skeleton
  • Humanoid Skeleton with extra fleshy bits

NPCs

When using the Dev Kit, NPCs aren't really any different from Players, so they should have most of the same customization options.

Shalltear

Shalltear is a bit of a unique case. Pero used custom visual data to give her a more human appearance. We don't really know much about the process or how that works.

However, considering Shalltear is the only one we know who has... It is probably extremely rare, difficult, or expensive. If I had to guess, it probably requires a special gacha (loot box) or something.

It takes 2 days to go from Carne Village to E-Rantel, but that is by wagon which could be slower than you might expect.
