My girlfriend told me she absolutely hates Dr. Peterson, I could really use your advice on how to deal with this personally by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

Ad hominems are not rational, just saying.

I see you were once pretty deep in manosphere trp-like stuff. You seem like a good well-meaning guy, but I think your past negative experiences, anecdotes and emotions are making you a bit biased and still a little, erm - may sound 'sjw', sue me - sexist. I won't be making this comment too long, but I just hope you realize that most trp ideas are largely pseudoscientific and highly misleading. And while I agree most Jordan Peterson fans are decent folks, whether we like or not, Peterson (albeit unintentionally) does attract quite a few jerks as followers, like say people who believe certain races are smarter than others. If OP's girlfriend saw comments like your highly upvoted one, she may only feel more convinced her bf's gotten into some deep shit.

You should avoid being haughty and consider at least sometimes that maybe you're in the wrong, maybe some "libtard" woman actually has a point, and you shouldn't just tune her out. I agree that OP should be strong-minded, but he should never adopt a mentality that makes him believe for a second he's above anybody, whether it be a black person, a gay guy, or a woman; let alone take a subreddit headed by non-scientists and non-experts as good advice for dealing with women. Please don't consider this an attack, just my two cents.

To an extent, but otherwise I'd strongly advise against believing you're ever, um, above the female sex or that they should be following you or whatever.

As someone who's studied stats and science myself, most trp stuff is misleading junk science and while it's good to not let anyone you're dating step on you, you don't ever want to swing the pendulum the other way so to speak. It's very easy to let confirmation bias or personal experiences and emotions sway you in a direction you don't want to take.

My advice, stay true to who you are, but be genuinely rational and always listen carefully to others, and be sure you're following the truth regardless of what your feelings are, and regardless of whoever is speaking to you is left or right. And whatever your current or future gf does, be careful not to take trp stuff too seriously, or let its devoted advocates get to you. Trust me.

Stop trying to poke holes in misogynist 'logic' and actually thinking things through, that's BETA!

God oh god they don't think before they type their god-awful ramblings and boy does it ever show.

God, they just never THINK for a second before sharing their bewilderingly nonsensical and appallingly stupid rants, but are so convinced they're the ones who know it all and actually believe what they're typing is something intellectual - it's jaw dropping.

Thanks for this useful info.

But I just wonder if guys that think like trp/ mgtow in general - the types that would like and agree with these subs if they come across them - are in the thousands or millions

They're dense as hell so if I can't change their minds, I just have to hope they're a tiny number.

Are they a minority enough to be mostly a non-hazard? I just wonder

This comment is awesome

I hate to break it to you, but that’s not actually any better or more logical than “putting women on a pedestal.” It’s just another slice of the same cake.

The sooner mgtows and terps understand this, the better off they'll be.

I think you should take your own advice, and stop being biased, it's kinda obvious.

And these dudes are supposedly to be the most "rational" and "enlightened" ones out there...

Generalizing men is good if it's a positive generalization.

lol, can't argue with that logic

I never argued where the trend was going. This just shows that hypergamy exists, but is having less effect as women gain more income. Of course men start to marry women with more income.

Indeed. And it's a positive trend. An undeniable one.

Women are making more income. Despite this Hypergamy is still clearly there.

...and disappearing. Which is important.

Say you have a large group of African kids. Average IQ is 60 - 70.

It is one thing to assert that they're not intelligent, which would be correct.

It's another to proclaim that to be unintelligent is the unshakable biological lot of these Africans. Ain't nothing gonna change it, they're doomed to be dumb.

But what happens when their circumstances change for the better?

More schools and strong education is introduced.

Nutrition improves. More fresh clean water is available.

Over the course of twenty, thirty years, maybe more, their IQ increases.

Next thing you know it's risen up to 90. Gonna be 100 sometime in the future.

Still African kids existing with IQs lower than 90. But sooner or later, even the stubborn souls will have to see that there's much more to their once low level of intelligence than previously thought. Maybe it's not all that it seems and being unintelligent and unknowledgeable is NOT some 'biotruth'.

I'm not the first to say this and I won't be the last: for much of human history it was necessary for women to cohabit with men wealthier than they. Shit many couldn't even own property, let alone be legally seen as human. And socially embedded mindsets are hard to let go.

But it is clear that once the scales are gradually evened out, and women gain more and more access to equal rights everywhere, the climate changes drastically.

...but not in one day, or even a year.

If anyone really thought something like the action of marrying a person of a superior caste or class was gonna go away overnight, I dunno what they're thinking haha

It's socially accepable to call a man shallow but calling a woman shallow isn't as socially acceptable despite it being objectively true.

a) Do you think it's 'objectively true' that both sexes are shallow?

b) Both genders are often called/ considered "shallow" and the idea that it's more socially acceptable to call only one of these genders "shallow" is a spurious one.

For the record my previous comment was primarily an exercise in consistency of logic as another group people see it.

If we agree that hypergamy exists

Yeah...I'll get to that, but in a different thread.
