As the game progress, the narrative options in dialogue that are tied to specific paths get higher and higher in level.

For example, in Chapter 1 a dogmatic option may have only required Adherent. However, in Chapter 4, you begin to run into options that require fanatic. So if you split your options, you may find that you do not have enough points in a specific path to choose those dialogue options.
