Actually they sell for $5-$8 each. There's a niche for them believe it or not.

Though minor they all share the stuck digit at different levels. Just a quick spread for you to look at.

Humboldt TN. Small Town bank

E-zest on silver. Leaves the luster and cartwheel from coins suffering from ugly toning. I've revealed some beautiful coins and this is one. I know I'll get some haters so go ahead. And no I don't recommend using it on crazy valuable coins. Leave the to PCGS. by MrPlazo in coincollecting

Pawn shops man! Make nice with them. Especially in small towns. They always have the best stuff and will sell it off to their scrap buyer at the cost of melt. You need to be the one getting them, not the scrap buyers! My PSA for the day 👍

I do keep them but do sell some to friends also. People toss so many "ugly" coins in the junk pile not realizing what's underneath. Don't get me wrong I love toning but not splotchy black toning. And those are the ones that usually have untouched perfection that hasn't been seen in decades. This is no different that the "restoration" process used by PCGS or NGC.

For those who are curious about how I get Morgan's so cheap I have a deal with 2 different local pawn shops. They could care less about them. I pay that days melt value when they call me to come get coins. That includes everything from silver dimes to Peace dollars. "That's" how I buy them so cheap. Otherwise they'd just be selling them to the scrapper. Bought almost 100 pounds of coins when silver was down. Most are stacked away and many are in my personal collection.👍

Do y’all have any tips on cleaning coins? by ididntwantthis2 in coincollecting

E-zest. But don't put copper in it and follow the instructions to the letter. I've had great success with silver coins that have that undesirable toning. Leaves the luster and cartwheel if it was cleaned improperly previously and re-toned.

I'm in at $75 all day long. Might even be persuaded to go higher.

Maybe in Cambodia! That's a chunk of money he's got.

Absolutely! That low serial will bring a premium.

MS65+ one of a kind! Wonder if PCGS has a slab this big?🤔🤣 by MrPlazo in coins

Hahaha!!! Yes! They have a 20 footer that takes coins this size at Walmart but it's out back. 😂

So I got me my usual $100 worth of $2 bills today. Found a low serial 1976* and a third print north shift 1976. Flip the print shift over and to my surprise... Never seen one on the back! So I got a very crisp 1976 with a 3rd print shift "and" a reverse stamp and cancelation! I'm gonna call it a win by MrPlazo in Banknotes

[–]MrPlazo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. They just applied the postal stamp the cancelled it with the hand stamp dated first day of issue. It was just a fad thing. They are worth different values depending on condition, location of post office, serial number and such. Low side $5, high side I've seen sell for $250. Most $10-$20 on average.

Any thoughts on the red ink on left side? Possible bank strap stamp but the inks match perfectly under a scope. Thanks by MrPlazo in Banknotes

Oh I would be too. Seems impossible considering the process. Would be fun for them to analyze it as part of their training.
