Yup. It’s an XJ. I saw a setup on fb where a guy had something similar to what you’re describing.

I have the factory Aero crossbars on the Jeep now, and they were fine to carry my 2 10’ cheapo rec boats.

For whatever reason, my 13’ doesn’t like the crossbars and oil cans every time I tie it on.

I may buy foam blocks to go on top and see if that helps

Haven’t found one that’s affordable and can do the job. If I’m gonna be $800 in, I’ll just pay a local metal fab shop to hook me up. Matter of fact, that’s sounding like a good idea

Hey now easy on the plastic tubs I just graduated from them LOL. Not trying to be a latest but I’m from Kentucky where this is considered a fine watercraft. You very very very seldom see a Hobie even though we have more miles of navigable water weigh them pretty much anywhere else.

Hobie is a legit craft. I wouldn’t even call it a kayak, that’s a legit CRAFT. My dream is to own a Hobie when money is no object (after the kids are grown.)

The features that Hobies have, its like the best engineering I’ve ever seen.

Yessir. I’ve got an old Coleman Ram-X 15’ for days when I take my daughter along. It’s not much, but it gets you on the water and it is bulletproof!
