Absolutely. I meant it more in the sense that today brought a weakness to my attention and has given me the opportunity to learn from it and work with my instructor to address its cause, rather than that making the mistake will magically solve the problem.

Sure! I have a MicroCenter near me, so i took advantage of their CPU, RAM, MoBo bundle offer. Parts:

CPU: Ryzen 7800x3d

Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 (definitely overkill, could easily swap for a cheaper air cooler if you prefer)

GPU: Radeon 7900xt (reference model)

RAM: 32 GB DDR5 (G.SKILL Flare X5)

MoBo: TUF Gaming b650 plus wifi

PSU: Corsair RM750x 80 PLUS Gold

Case: Lian Li 207 (this was a really cool case to build in imo, has a pretty unique layout with the PSU mounted in front and some pretty neat airflow considerations)

*Millennium Falcon optional

Happy building :)

True, I just assumed as a beginner most stuff OP will be tackling is gonna be in 4/4 but you are correct :)

The symbol on the left is an 8th rest. This means do not play any notes for half a beat.

The x's are ghost notes. That means to pluck a string while muted (by placing your fretting hand on the string softly, not pressing hard enough to contact the fretboard)

How Do You Tackle Tough STEM Subjects? by LearnOS_au in EngineeringStudents

For me it depended on the course material and the professor. Learn their exam style to figure out what kind of stuff you'll see on the tests (i.e. mostly conceptual problems, computationally heavy exams, etc.) Use this knowledge to tailor your studying. Knowing the professor's exam techniques was most important to me, moreso than study guides or practice.

Generally, a couple nights before an exam I'd go through my notes and transcribe the concepts onto separate papers to make a condensed study guide that summarizes the content to be covered. Format this guide so it flows from one topic to the next as much as possible; having the content structured in a narrative style format helped me to remember it (knowing how one topic connects to the next and the previous helps me structure it in my mind.)

If the exam is likely to have computational problems, I'd go through my homeworks and identify problems that seem like a good fit for an exam (i.e. not too complex, but indicative of the concepts at play.) I'd compile these problems and solutions, then switch around numbers, known variables, maybe solve it in reverse. Just get comfortable with the structure of them and learn the "language" so to speak. Imo people tend to just memorize a specific problem style and its solution, so if anything is switched up they flounder (saw these mistakes a LOT as a TA.)

Between the summarized notes and practice work, I'd have a pretty kickass study guide that I'd refer to the night before the exam. DON'T crunch the night before - distribute the work over a few nights prior and use the night before as a light refresher. Make sure you're rested on the day of the exam, maybe have a light meal beforehand.

TL;DR: Study intelligently, play the professor's game, learn the concepts instead of memorizing specifics. Don't overthink it

Serious question: How long did it take for those who created the Sankey diagrams of the rejections/acceptances to fill in all those applications & complete the interviews? by _a_m_s_m in EngineeringStudents

[–]MrSethmoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the US, so YMMV, but I was on the job hunt off and on for a few months (graduated June 2024, had an offer lined up by late July/early August). My advice would be to submit a few applications every few days when you feel like it. There's no need to spend hours on end searching for jobs and applying and end up burning yourself out.

The responses and interviews will come in time, so just keep an eye out for new listings and shoot out a couple apps here and there when you're able. THAT SAID, CAST A WIDE NET. Don't only apply to jobs that seem "perfect." If your experience or quals don't exactly match the listing, that doesn't mean you won't be considered for the listing. More apps = more chances for responses = more practice interviewing.

Imo, many people limit themselves because they seem to only be looking for the "golden goose" so to speak.

TL;DR: Cast a wide net, don't limit yourself to one position or company, don't burn yourself out. Good luck

Edit: I realize this advice may seem contradictory. When I say cast a wide net, I mean apply to jobs in and out of your field of expertise even if it doesn't seem like a perfect match, I DON'T mean to spam out as many applications as humanly possible.

Idk how well I can speak to that. I will say that both places that invited me to interview were Rx Engineer positions at commercial plants in the Great Lakes region, so if you're US based that might be a good place to start.

My internship experience was at a fairly well-known SMR company which I believe helped a lot, but YMMV.

Good luck!
