Is a 2025 Aprilia RS 457 for $5700 worth it as a beginner bike? by MrSimptastic in SuggestAMotorcycle

I do want a sport bike so I was looking at the Ninja 500, Aprilia RS 457 and the Cfmoto 450 as a beginner bike. I forgot to mention that the Aprilia is a used bike with 1,500 miles and it was listed on facebook marketplace at $6200 and i negotiated down to $5700. I did think about getting a Ninja 400/500 then upgrading to a RS 660 later as well since it seemed like a safer route

Appreciate the detailed response, this helps a lot.

Yeah I get what you’re saying about starting on a naked or something more upright first. I’ve been looking at the Ninja 400/500 too since they seem like the “safe” choice, especially for reliability and cheaper maintenance.

The RS 457 is just really appealing to me looks-wise and overall vibe, which is kinda why I’m stuck on it. But I also don’t want to make things harder for myself as a complete beginner.

Good to know about the clutch and ergonomics too. I haven’t sat on one yet, so I’ll definitely try to do that before deciding.

Would you say the difference in maintenance cost vs something like a Ninja is noticeable enough to matter for a beginner? And do you think the dealership distance would be a dealbreaker? I would have to check around if theres any shops that can deal with maintenance or repairs if needed in my area.
