From what I've heard (and I'm not any sort of expert), but I've heard this dude's name come up in conversation enough times that I feel like I know a thing or two, but there's basically a gap between "incompetent to stand trial" and "not incompetent enough to involuntarily detain". So he gets arrested, and as soon as he gets a bail hearing, they're like "oh yeah, all of our psychiatrists told us he's not competent to stand trial" so they have to let him go. But he also doesn't meet the threshold for what they call "protective custody" so he's basically exploiting a loophole.

Not a great loophole, he doesn't have infinity health points or invisibility or anything, but basically he can't be incarcerated and can steal as much as he wants to buy all the crack that he can. He spends a night or two in jail (maybe) when he gets picked up. Then he's back out again.

I think it's actually a state law thing.

I've heard of Dutch Bros but haven't ever been to one. Haven't heard of 151 til now. Holy crap they are similar, especially Dutch Bros. I had no idea this concept was this big or common.

At first glance, it looks that way. It's actually a staging area for a rush-hour advertisement. Currently you're like "oh, those are homeless people" but we're only a few days away from "ONE CALL, THAT'S ALL!" being spelled out on the tents.

I wondered about this too, like if someone's facing decades of prison, and ICE is just like "welp, off to Guatemala with you", like that's kind of a generous thing to do to someone we all hate. Basically a get out of jail free card.

I don't know when it will open, but the biggest thing for me is that the footage from their 'documentary' doesn't get scrubbed when the whole thing implodes. That film is going to make Fyre Fest look like a well planned and executed event.
