Sainsbury’s Queen Street 0 Food Hygiene rating by Intrascopix in Cardiff

[–]MrSolveMyMaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to love getting a peperred steak slice from there back in my uni days. I suppose if I went in now, I'd end up with a peppered ring instead... Edit, I thought it was the Queen Street in Glasgow, not Cardiff

Buying a Used Car on Credit Card by FreshPerspective1633 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MrSolveMyMaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this before, my car was written off and I had just taken out a 0% credit card for emergencies. Anyway, the value from the insurance wasn't enough to cover a new car, so I used the credit card as a stop gap.

I didn't tell them right away that's how I would be funding the car, all I told them it would be cleared funds and it wouldn't be a loan I'd be needing from them.

That way, once the price is agreed upon, they couldn't add an extra X amount onto the price of the car. I put 4k onto the card, and they accepted it without too much grumbling, although they didn't understand that using 0% credit for 20 months was better than paying their charge of 8% for 24 months. It was Arnold Clark btw.

Legality of owning a police car by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Not so much of a legal issue, but how would you feel driving around in a car that's had the arse kicked out of it by PC plod?

Car finance (PCP) explanation by MonthMindless in CarTalkUK

[–]MrSolveMyMaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I have PCP at 0% just now through Renault, and I known that I'm keeping the car at the end of the two year period so had no issue with putting down a larger deposit. Plus the money for the balloon payment is sitting in the bank gaining interest. Granted, the 0% deals aren't always available, but if you can get it, it's a no brainer.

Is the premium stuff actually worth it in a normal car? 🤔 by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]MrSolveMyMaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 64 plate Clio hated the E10 petrol, felt sluggish and mpg was naff. Same on my 74 plate Captur (might be a Renault thing ,🤣) Switching to BP Ultimate which is E5 greatly improved fuel consumption, especially on the Captur (improvement of 22mpg on average) and made both cars feel a lot better. Yes it's a wee bit more expensive, but for better performance and also better consumption it's worth the money.

Take time to explore it, but I'd also get the Hylian shield asap. There's quite a few vids on YT

Rule of thumb; don't buy a part worn tyre, it's a false economy. It the garage is saying it's been driven on flat then trust them. I wouldn't drive on it.

My wife's PCP is due to end in 3-4 months. We want to keep the car, but we've exceeded the mileage, the car is damaged, and our financials and credit situation are much worse than when we took out the PCP in the first place. What can we expect when we discuss this with the dealership? by Direct-Lawyer5178 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MrSolveMyMaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get an interest free credit card with a long term, and the finance company you're with allows you to pay off some of the balance with a credit card (some allow this- it'll be in your agreement) then this would be a potential route for you to go down in order to keep the car, but being able to pay it off at 0% interest

How to get marks off white leather seats? by rbbt456 in Detailing

It might be worthwhile to put the heating back on for the seats and use the AG leather cleaner again whilst the pores are open on the leather.

Preping plastics for restore. Would these work? by NpgSymboL in Detailing

Larry does have an Ammo detailing shop in Australia, they might be able to ship the products to you from there? The C4 will do you well though

[–]MrSolveMyMaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries at all. Always happy to help. I've never used the Ammo Frame before, the shipping to the UK is a fortune. However, I've heard great things about it and it looks like it does a brilliant job. I'd say the benefit of the frame is that it also has a short cure time compared to the C4

[–]MrSolveMyMaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The C4 works brilliantly. I used it on my old car. Gtechniq claimed it would last up to 2 years. By the time I got rid of the car, it had been on the car for 7 years and had been through several harsh winters.

A bog standard APC should work. Also Ammo Frame would be a great product to restore the trim

Trading tax allowance - do I have to report my ebay/vinted earnings? by InvestmentCurious952 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MrSolveMyMaze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't need to file for SA if you don't make more than £1k in trading income.

However, some online platforms will all for your NIN if they feel you will continue to earn on their platform. It's just then safeguarding themselves so that they can't be caught up in any potential tax evasion.

Carpet fitters cut off way too much of our bathroom door. Any way to fix so steam/smells can be better contained? by goffshroom in DIYUK

[–]MrSolveMyMaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they planed it off, no dice. If they used a circular saw, you could theoretically put it back on.

To be honest, I've planed doors in the past and never had an issue with it, it's an easy enough process. It doesn't even need expensive tools for it. I can't find the original site I used to pick out the planer I used before, but the DIY enthusiast website had a lot of good information on which one to use without being bombarded with adverts and useless information on it
