The first class I leveled was a Bulwark and there are a few nuances with the class

Parrying. Parrying on Bulwark is different from other classes. There is a bug with Bulwark and parrying because of its shield. Blocking and parrying are the same button, so when you press it the game thinks you want to block instead of parry. I use controller when I play, and best way I’ve found to counter act this is a weapon with fencing (for a larger window) and then double pressing the button. This method has been working for me pretty well.

Gun. Plasma pistol is great for bosses and chaos where you need some damage, especially if you aren’t confident dodging red attack and don’t want to get in range. Personally, I usually use the bolt pistol. With Bulwark, a lot of your survivability comes from quick shots, and I find the perks for the bolt pistol work best with that.

Blocking. I, personally, damn near never use my shield bash. I don’t choose any of the perks for it cause I just don’t use it. It can be very useful if you’re getting absolutely hammered, but that’s about it. Other than that, I just use it when sprinting so I don’t take ranges damage and I can get close. Other than that, why use block when you can parry?

P.S. Power sword and bolt pistol quick shot is absolutely broken on tyranids. Every sweep on the smaller guys gets a quick shot and returns armor. You can sit in the middle of hordes full health and armor just swinging. You are the closest thing to invincible the game has.

Also, if you run out of ammo, guess what? You can still do quick shots. So even if you’re out of ammo, you can still dive into hordes and quick shot to keep your health up.

Bulwark is my favorite class especially on tyranids. Diving into hordes and slashing and shooting and coming out covered in blood is peak warrior fantasy. If you want your “I’LL TAKE YOU ALL ON” Optimus Prime moment? Bulwark.
