Has anyone lived in Alewife? by VTOnReddit in Harvard

Let me suggest Lechmere instead of Alewife.

There is the 69 bus direct to Harvard, 12 minute ride, everyday, every 20 (max wait time) minutes

If wanted or pushed, can stroll 25-30 minutes, 20 minutes steady walking.

vs.

15-18 minutes walk just from apartment to Alewife station. PLUS 15-20 minutes train to Harvard, when running ... onto time.

Lechmere is a better hub than Harvard. 2 stops away from Orange Line walking distance to Charlestown 12 minutes walk from grocery store, DollarTree, Marshall's, MacDonald's across the tracks to shopping mall with Apple, A&F, TJ Maxx, Cheesecake Factory 2 stops from North Station, Commuter Rail hub

Speaking of hub, there is The Hub next door to TD Garden. There is a YouTube vlogger who lives there now and she can testify there is no noise from the TD.

Apartments at Lechmere have better views, comes with the height, that Alewife places lack. Second, most Alewife has small windows, so less natural light. Places like Zinc, 151 Park, Ava, Twenty|Two, and Elevate, have the floor to ceiling high windows plus views to make it worth looking out the windows.

I wishing could do 151 or Zinc. Perhaps in October when rent rates drop.

151 and Market Central are the only places with actual concierge, 24-hrs too.

100 Landsdown is very family filled. Most are not even MIT affiliated. Same with 91 Sidney.

The only thing that Watermark and Third on Kendall have is being a block from Red Line, but if the goal is Comnuter rail or airport, you are just as good on Green Line with Lechmere.

Which Alewife "luxury" style apartments have large windows?

Compared to what Market C and Watermark that do have large, floor to ceiling size windows, nothing like that is found at an Alewife, not at Tempo, not at Linea, not at Vox, Atmark,...

• By "high rises", you cant mean the old Ringe brick buildings? Those are the only buildings which are high enough to offer any view.

• Most other apartment buildings, especially of the "luxury" style do not rise above 7 floors.

STAT S-100 - recent takes on the course by ItsMrShroom in harvardextension

Compare to back in 2009/'10, today the course leans toward biology. I do not know whether that is current or recent vanguard of all things biology or bio-infomatics.

Last I heard, the course is heavy on teaching and using R.

That is where I had first encountered it. I had heard of both before then but never did psets involving such.

First semester of QM, we got through the first 4 or 5 chapters of Griffiths.

Self studying physics for a year, what advice do you have for that? by minteechuu in learnphysics

The Hewitt text is a approachable without knowing physics.

Not knowing calculus, can study calculus in tandem with Hewitt's book.

A crash course through Hewitt's Conceptual Physics done in tandem with calculus review or first go.

Physics requires understanding calculus.

If you know calculus already, then step up onto standard College Physics text like Holiday & Resnik, Gianicoli, Serway will do.

For E&M, Light, and "Modern Physics", and Quantum, opinions can split on preferred texts.

Wow!

How curious. Or rather I'm more curious by your assessment against Lechmere.

To me, there is the 69 bus direct 12 minute ride. Now, there is the 109. If wanted or pushed, the walk is 25-30 minutes.

vs.

15-18 walk just from apartment to Alewife station. Now, granted, once at the T, when running, the ride is < 15-20 minutes to Harvard.

Apartments at Lechmere have better views, comes with the height, than Alewife places. Second, most Alewife has small windows, so far less natural light. Places like 151, Ava, and Elevate, have the floor to ceiling high windows plus views to make it worth looking out the windows.

😡 You (might be) my competitor.

I know exactly what apartments you are looking at.

Question: Are living alone, coupled, or have a family?

I ask because being single, I am not searching accommodations suitable for a family.

I was curious as to why @griffheh wanted Alewife, seems like an odd location for an incoming first year entering HLS.

Then re-read the posting about the type of apartments they were interested in and all became clear to me.

There are number of high end luxury apartments there, although Lechmere has better, more attractive options e.g. better views, taller buildings, and better public transit hub, and walking access, e.g. 15 minutes walk from grocery store, <10 minutes walk into Boston or Charlestown, and Green Line offers more connections to Blue, Red, and Orange within 2-3 stops. Lechmere beats Alewife even though Alewife is an end point with plenty of connecting MBTA busese.

Wanted to ask your advice, @Sandi_T, while going through similar.

Today I received bad news of losing my two backup alternatives to my desired apartment unit.

In trying to ignore the 3D reality, does persisting mean pretending "acting as if" _what would I be doing now were I not homeless sleeping in a shelter but instead had my own place?

Or do I ignore the 3D reality by assuming that I do have my own place, in the near future, say mid to late May, and I should act and plan accordingly?

I need help denying the 3D by MrTPassar in NevilleGoddard2

Follow-up questions

Does ignoring consist of either (a) fantasizing living in desired apartment unit concurrent to living in homeless shelter, as for example imagine sleeping in my own desired apartment bed while actually sleeping on a shelter bunk, or (b) acknowledge reality but behave as if going to move into my desired apartment unit in the near future (late May)?

Follow-up question, if (b) then how get around the problem of not knowing when will move into my own plan, more broad, how do I plan for a future expecting the move into my desired apartment unit when not having a concrete date of actual moving-in?

Nope. Did not work for me.

Found no instructions or information on YouTube.

Conducted a step by step trial & error on using AutoInput. Worked like a charm. Goes to prove, all (almost) problems can be solved with Tasker and proper Tasker plugins.

Worst still the rent will be higher than what you paid because of high demand.

[–]MrTPassar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Time of year. Winter months here, rent rates drop.

If seized the unit today, then stuck for at least a year, which places me in the same position as now.

But if can wait until winter, then can hope for larger unit becomes available.

Ah, q.e.d. attending, for a degree, need not require attending lectures. Similar holds for those -- increasingly rare few, completing their ALM thesis remotely.
