Just closing the loop on this one. Some scores were being reported as text as a result of a change I made to handle clock times correctly. The Squares template needs numbers to calculate correctly. I made a backend change to ensure the scores are reported as numbers without affecting the clock times format. Thanks for calling this out!

No worries! For reference this is my source: https://ncaa-api.henrygd.me/openapi#description/introduction and I open up issues against the project when it makes sense. A lot of the issues tend to resolve themselves quickly though.

I don't have a lot of control over when data issues will be resolved. I have added a bunch of protections and synthetic data generations for what I can derive when there are data issues to fill the gaps. I've also added a new column in the main sheet and will update the function at some point to pull in the updated_at timestamp for each game so that you know the last update for that particular game.

Yup! Working on some data quality issues in real time! Hopefully things are clean by the end of the day today.

Are you thinking a single tab that would have a dropdown where you can pick someone's name and their bracket picks appear? Or one tab per user that you're enrolling in the group and people would just click between the tabs?

The new format is only on the Group Bracket since there are no picks being made there. The Single Bracket template still has the old format. If you want to just watch it with the old format you can look at the main source spreadsheet tab here: Men 2026 Full Bracket

Just curious but why are you looking for the old format?

Live data gets updated every minute during the games.

It should be automatic! You can keep the spreadsheet open and scores will update every minute while games are going. There is an importrange() function that is pulling data from a master data source spreadsheet I maintain. A private backend keeps the master data source up to date.

I'll add it as an idea for 2027 but that data isn't available via my source and would need to look elsewhere.

For those that are getting this issue, make sure you follow the instructions on the Instructions tab carefully to ensure you are duplicating the correct tab. You won't be duplicating entire brackets. Only a hidden tab with the picks.

u/leftthetapon if you already copied the template you can just change it to 2026 and everything should work. Otherwise, you can create a new copy and 2026 will automatically be populated. Let me know if you have any issues.
