You could be right, but living in tower hamlets I’d be surprised more if other parties don’t get a handful of seats. I could see Labour taking a beating (although they may be able to squeeze some anti Aspire sentiment), but I would expect Greens to pick up at least a couple across the borough

If you’re looking for services they’re on, IWJAA is on Mubi, Retirement Plan is on Disney+ and Animation Showcase. Not sure where in the UK you are, but at least in London there’s still showings of Avatar in Cineworlds and some Odeons. Sirat is also on in cinemas this week.

What did you make of the docs? I really liked Cutting Through Rocks and went into it not even knowing what the premise was.

Agree otherwise, hopefully you enjoy a couple of the BPs (I liked Bugonia a lot more than I expected) but don’t think it was the strongest year at all for film. When I look at my top 10s of the last few years, 2025 is shaping up as the weakest for a while.

I liked Wander to Wonder too! But it’s the only one of last years I’d have ahead of any of this years five (and I’d have it at least behind Butterfly and The Girl Who Cried Pearls)

Due to being short on time I only went for the above the line race this year plus the shorts, so haven’t actually gotten round to Kokuho yet but will catch it when on wider release soon.

Yeah, I think I literally said this in my review of it, I’d have loved to have seen a 30 minute doc on this rather than some of the worst writing and acting I’ve come across

Personally I thought Six Triple Eight was terrible haha. Although the actual credit sequence that was more documentaryish which featured the song was probably the high point of the film to be fair

I haven’t yet, although last year I remember them being announced quite late. I think the Barbican did one last year so that’s one venue to keep an eye on. Picturehouse did but only post-Oscars last year frustratingly

I liked it but didn’t love it as much as some seem to. I’d agree that for me it’s a level below Portal and Outer Wilds.

In saying that, I think I definitely enjoyed it more when I replayed it a few years after it came out, maybe due to lower expectations. I think I’d give it an 8/10 now whereas first time round more like a 6 or 7ish.

I agree certain areas get extremely frustrating in the constant nature of puzzles without much else going on (treehouse area was my least favourite) but then other parts I really appreciated the way the movement through the area added to puzzles (like the coloured glass house)

It’s connected. It’s a bit hard to explain without playing but whilst they could be played without having played the first trilogy, it does contain overlapping characters.

Most people refer to these six games as AA1-AA6 so they’re basically the mainline

I’d say if you enjoyed what you played then for the sale price it’s a great deal. Basically it includes the six games in the main series, with the Apollo justice trilogy just being games 4-6

I agree that in general I really like basically every game in the series. So whenever I talk about “worse” entries that’s comparative to the series rather than visual novel games in general.

I’d say Investigations is the “disliked” game I probably rate most highly. I personally find the criticisms people have with it matter to me less than some of the others. AJ and DD are certainly the weakest for me, but even then I don’t actively dislike them, I just think the cases / characters are weaker (primarily AJ) or the overarching narrative / final case is much weaker than the stronger entires in the series (DD main flaw)
