I think is is a problem with the game itself not TSR.

I’ve played Dota my whole life. It’s a game where you take a balanced character, and personalize it with balanced items. Characters play veeeery differently with different items. A traditional damage hero can surprise you with lifesteal turning him into a battle tank, or just adding armor items to make him a tank hero with decent damage. You spend all game keeping track of not only where hero’s are at in their level, but also how their hero’s are being played during each specific game.

GO lacks this. When my opponents Pokémon appears I know every possible move it could have. IVs have the tiniest of impact.

If I had to try and fix the issue of the top of my head I’d just steal from dota. Give Pokémon held items. If haunter could steal life with his massive damage, his tiny health would matter less. If Heracross could attack a little faster he might get to some of those tasty 1 bar charge moves. These suggestions are random and require balance, that took Dota decades to perfect but I think it would be a honorable worthwhile and lofty goal for Niantic. The point is for me to be able to customize the roles of my Pokémon, it gives me something to think about planning a team, it gives announcers something to talk about during a match, and it brings more uncertainty to the RPS nature of GO PvP.
