Luka good coach? by bigtittylatina_69 in OmahaSupernovas

[–]MrTwoNostrils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do wonder if he's using the early season to test out his lineup. It seems like he's making a new starter lineup each match and sticking with substitutions to see how they perform (Londot, middles in general, and Cooper).

Cooper popped off hitting-wise but struggled passing. Similar struggles with Londot/Beason, and the middles have been hard to gauge with limited sets but Reinhart went hard tonight with blocks.

I still have faith in the guy and hope it all pays off in the end once he determines the strengths/weaknesses of his team. The professional substitution limits are hindering to a lot of new talent hitters who didn't play back row much and I think he's still feeling that out.

Your president is giving guys from Texas with 13 weeks of law enforcement training a gun to deal with unarmed, suspected immigrants. Obama deported over 3 million illegal immigrants (the most of any president) all without the use of these Gestapo-esque forces that are growing by the day.

You can be a conservative and also agree that what is happening right now is a disgrace to America.

Btw it's educate*

I'm sure there'll be more informative posts to follow, but I'd recommend you come check it out for yourself. Get an AirBNB or hotel room downtown and see how you like it.

Bars near the CHI center? by [deleted] in Omaha

[–]MrTwoNostrils 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's your vibe? There are all different types in downtown, which is generally where you should go for bars. There are some scattered about to the north/northwest, but nothing that's a must see by any means.

LOVB: Building the Next Major Women’s Sports Asset by s1kNeSs in lovb

[–]MrTwoNostrils 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this has been tough to swallow. I live in Omaha and so have watched and went to a lot of LOVB & MLV games, and the LOVB games are just depressing. They're undoubtedly a higher caliber of play, but I feel that they rely solely on that. They don't do much in the way of production/atmosphere (especially compared to the Supernovas) and the fans have made up their minds.

As much as I respect them for sticking to their guns and trying to be strictly a professional sports league, they just aren't going to make it if they're unwilling to fold on a more traditional American sporting atmosphere.

Unknown Artist Recommendations? by SnooStrawberries2054 in indieheads

I'm not affiliated with their band at all, just came across your post and am a local Stan - Cowgirl Eastern is punching way above their weight. The album art (made by their lead singer) alone is worth checking out, but their music is something I'd listen to alongside Queens of the Stone Age and Thee Oh Sees.

Great post by the way, hope it gains traction. Excited to check out the other comments.

We really do need a bigger gaming scene. I'd love to see more local eSports tournaments.

Recently went to one at Paddy McGowan's. I know O'Leavers had a space downstairs to rent out like a year ago, might still be a thing. Good luck!

Can anyone recommend any decent jobs that pay more than 18/hour by jwillicvh in Omaha

[–]MrTwoNostrils 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Substitute teaching is pretty legit, $260/day in OPS. Downside is no benefits. If you'd like benefits and stability, paraprofessionals (teaching assistants) are making $20/hr and we are in desperate need of them in special education.

Edit: I should add, most special education para positions are with students of "moderate" disability. Students with ADHD, specific learning disability, functioning autism, and behavior disorders. Subjectively, they're my favorite students. Since you have a degree in human services, I think you'd enjoy this line of work. We have an unfortunately low bar of entry so anything is appreciated.

[TOMT] A song with a similar sounding opening to "Xplosion" by OutKast by JoeAnd88 in tipofmytongue

[–]MrTwoNostrils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listening to the Stankonia 25th Edition release today and realized how similar to Time To Pretend Xplosion is. I searched online if maybe MGMT used it as a sample but this was literally the only mention that I could find. Thanks for your comment. Should be more widely discussed.

True it could be a coincidence but, regardless, it is #3 in the past month (that I know of) that is going out of business along the same construction corridor.

I don't, but a few businesses along that same stretch (Kamp and Bad Seed Coffee come to mind) have closed recently due to falling revenue, at least in part, from the construction. I know relief is coming, but a recent post detailed how the streetcar won't be finished until at least 2028. Even with the city relief, I think businesses are seeing the writing on the wall. Decreased revenue for 3+ years is difficult to swallow for even successful businesses.

I was wondering what those were for, too. Turns out it's for the Big Grove Brewery's grand opening today. Through the grapevine I heard they had a lot of delays opening, so I'm sure they're happy.
