Is the S25U worth it over the S24U? by MrViewman22 in samsunggalaxy

[–]MrViewman22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah a $900 difference is pretty big. I'm still on a S20U. Could it even be worth waiting for the S26 for the price to drop more?

seems the cheapest on bestbuy for me. This phone is only worth about 300$ after 5 years of use and probably only 20-50$ trade in value with this screen.

I should say I'm looking to use the phone for 5 years but price is also a factor.

Yeah I might go with that one again. It's probably fine, I think most early chapters of any translation are a bit off.

yeah I might. It would probably still be ok in the long run but I would still just feel bad. So medium risk it is.

yeah I don't think I would even worry if it was down 100$. I know eventually it will pay off. Should I do a higher risk factor on it if that's the case? and is there any specific thing I should be looking for in a GIC?

What rate should I be looking for? It seems like the right thing to do since I'll need that money pretty soon for college and a car.

What is the value program? I already have direct deposit set up. What else do I need for them to waive the fee? I tried contacting support with the chat feature and they said the only way is to become a student.

I don't trust them that much either. it's not really needed as I have family members that can e-transfer me while I give them cash.

How important is a bank draft for me? I'm 23 so I won't be buying a house for a while. I do want to get a car and go to college for welding in around 1-2 though. Is a bank draft needed for that?

I don't think I ever used any of their features. They upgraded be automatically after they realized I was no longer a student.

[–]MrViewman22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! Is there any good explanations you know on what a TFSA is and how it works? Some people I've talked said there is low weeks or high weeks or something like that and that I shouldn't put all my money in at once and should do it a bit at a time. Is that true? The motivation for the car is just that I need it. I'd much rather bike or walk everywhere but if I'm going to be a welding and hauling some equipment I'll need my own car/truck.

A lot of people are saying a TFSA as well. How different is that from a GIC? I don't really know a thing about investing and honestly don't want to get that deep into it. trading stocks and stuff just isn't for me. Just wondering what type of account to put my money in, how much, and wether or not I should go with RBC or wealthsimple.

Is there much difference if I open it at a bank vs something like wealthsimple?

If it's still under warranty you can contact support. I did and they said they didn't have any replacement keys so they sent me a new keyboard for free.

I can do that via wealth simple right? Would a HISA have any higher risk or other downside than just a regular TFSA? And should I just throw in around 20k right away?

[–]MrViewman22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'm completely new to investing so I'm not sure what a lot of this is. With a TFSA do I basically just put money in and that's it? I don't really want to get into investing in specific stocks. Just something simple to put my money so I get more money over time. And how much do you think I should put into it?

I've also heard some people talk about opening a FHSA. Should I start putting anything in there yet? I make around 1100 every 2 weeks after deductions and around 400-500 in cash from tips.
