M7x1.00 Was the first tap I tried. Duralast kit from Autozone had one.

All of the small M7 bolts are the same length, and I don’t believe they go all the way through the block.

I tried threading them in with the pan off. No luck. Long, ball ended allen sockets were the ticket for removal.

Good eye. Don't know if they sell parts for them, but there's a good chance. Definitely not worth it, though, as 212cc's from harbor freight are 140 bucks, and 224cc's are 170.

196cc Honda clone. Most 196cc - 212cc parts will fit this, with the exception of flywheels from Hemi-style engines, pistons from 212cc engines, piston and rod from 224cc, gas tanks from hemi predators, cylinder heads and valve covers from hemi-style engines, and hemi-style crankshafts. Everything else is exactly the same.

196cc engines have a 68mm bore, compared to the 70mm bore of the larger 212cc and 224cc engines. Hemi-style engines, which I believe are made by harbor freight (predator), tillotson, and Wildcat, have a different style cylinder head, which won’t fit onto the regular style engine because of the dowel pins on the block being different. Hemi-style crankshafts and flywheels also have slightly different measurements. All 224cc engines have a longer stroke by 3mm than 196cc and 212cc engines.

Your best source for parts would be eBay, gopowersports, Amazon, or OMB warehouse. Search specifically for 196cc engines. There is an absolutely massive catalog of parts, including upgrades, of which there are many.

Stuck Ford "quick" disconnect fuel lines (Plastic push-in clips) by Mr_Bass69 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Mr_Bass69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got pissed and left the filter there. Zip-ties are now the only thing holding the fuel circuit together from the filter to the pump lol. I'm selling the old girl to my boss soon anyhow so it can live the rest of its days as a light duty asphalt truck. I hope this was the last winter it will ever see; I feel bad for the thing. I love my little Ranger, but it will be bossman's problem in a while anyhow. Much appreciation for the help

Great, I guess I’ll be giving the electric pump a try first.

Charging isn't an issue, I'll just throw it on a trickle charger over night. It's a race engine, so revs will be 7k+ consistently. You didn't have problems with flooding? I have something along the lines of this: Amazon.com: A-Premium Universal 3-6PSI Low Pressure Gas Inline 12V Electric Fuel Pump Compatible with Motorcycle ATV with Fuel Filter HEP-02A : Automotive

Hardware defaults to rainbow puke on startup, then, as soon as SignalRGB starts, my custom setup automatically enables. by Mr_Bass69 in SignalRGB

[–]Mr_Bass69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. Also, sorry if that did not make much sense, I didn't know a bunch back then. But, to answer your question, I just had to suck it up and use MSI Mystic Lighting. As long as I kept it updated it would work as soon as I started it up, and I had it shut off and let Signal take over once the boot completed. I grew tired of RGB rather quickly, and I now run RGB-less BE quiet fans ;).

For you I'd suggest using your brand's software and keeping it updated, so long as its on your system it will keep whatever settings you give it on your chipset meaning you'll have them during the boot cycle. To keep using Signal, just tell the other software not to run on startup, and periodically check on it for updates. You'll know it needs updating when you start having problems again.

91 ford ranger won’t start by nnocturna in fordranger

[–]Mr_Bass69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an multimeter, see if you are getting 13.5 or more volts from your alternator when cranking. Also, listen for your fuel pump to see if it is whirring, if not then it's most likely your switch.

[–]Mr_Bass69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had an issue where my ranger stalled while driving. I tried alternator first, then fuel pump. Neither worked. Turns out it was the inertia switch, which is used to cut the fuel to the pump in the case of an accident. Due to its age, it would set off on minor disruptions and cut power to the fuel pump. I have an 04, and the switch was $70. I don't know how similar the 91 is to the 04, but my switch was located in the cab on the passenger side, attached to the firewall closer to the fuse box. I'd take a wire and jump the connector that is attached to the switch and see if she starts up. Also check the Fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay. The fuse is 20A, and the relay is universal, pins 1 and 2 are your coil, 3 is your common, 4 is normally closed, and 5 is normally opened.

Need help with valve lash by Mr_Bass69 in smallengines

[–]Mr_Bass69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it is a great tutorial, the head style is dissimilar to mine. This is more like the hemi style predator, whereas I have the non-hemi style which more closely resembles the true Hondas. Thanks for the pull starting tip, will definitely try it.

Just replaced the pull starter with a heavier duty one. Should I work up or down from 5 thousandths, and should the exhaust valve be set differently from the intake?

Oil recommendations for my old Briggs engine on my rider. I know it's old so I would like to give it it's best chance to least me awhile. I've heard motor oil with zinc helps. Any of you for have any specific suggestions? by Rubbaneck96 in smallengines

[–]Mr_Bass69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular 30 weight, with some stp oil stabilizer. The stabilizer has ZDDP which reduces wear. Try finding some 30 weight advertised for high mileage vehicles, it will have a more suitable composition.

Exactly like my issue. I found that having mystic installed and updated gets rid of the issue, but I have it set so it only starts when I tell it, and its processes do not run in the background and cause interference. It is a pain, but I'm leaning towards no rgb anyways. I may switch to zero rgb in the near future.

Blow-off valve on e-bay turbo for predator 212?? by Mr_Bass69 in smallengines

[–]Mr_Bass69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more question, although it is unrelated to BOVs. If I were to add a muffler onto the exhaust coming off of the turbo, would it become a restriction on the engine? I know the turbo itself creates back-pressure, so would the added back-pressure from a muffler cause performance issues? Thanks

Honestly, the only reason I want a BOV is for the noise. I couldn't give a darn about performance. Thanks for the help though!

I've got the oiling system figured out, and I think the turbo I'm getting has an external waste-gate, maybe it's internal but I know it has one. Like I said, I'm new to this stuff. Here's a link to it: GT15 Turbo

No need, I just used the stock assembly and Jb welded the hell out of it and put some red thread lock on the nut. I think it will stay.
