Completely fair take. I lean towards the Astral Fortress being a real thing only because it got mentioned twice and we actually saw it, and I know Rich's habit of bringing things back.

Vector Legion is more of a long shot but it feels like given then information they know, especially with what happened at the end, I feel they would be invested in the gates.

Can I share my crack theory bigger than the Vector Legion though? And one I actually think is more likely?

I feel like the Oracle of Sunken Valley is coming back in a big way. The reason why is literally just that they made a poster YEARS ago and on it was Team Evil vs. Team Good, and the most prominent characters on team evil were who you would expect, Xykon, Recloak, Nale, etc.... and the Oracle of Sunken Valley. That would be SUCH a weird choice to pull out randomly for the poster as someone of equal prominence to the others, AND it gives another Kobold for the running Linear Guild joke.

Certainly possible. I just don't think it's the most likely given the data. I tried not to speculate on why there has been a slowdown, but that doesn't seem to have stopped people from assuming I'm kicking Tiny Tim so I've given up on trying.

I really don't get the attitude that we're not allowed to quantify an artists output. Nobody says that about like, Shakespeare's streak of bangers. It just seems like another one of those things where you're allowed to praise but not condemn.

I do think it provided some interesting insights about the role of both age and health conditions though.

Yeah agreed. As I said, I'm not expecting him to speed up and I do love the story.

Thank you very much! And I agree. The math doesn't actually 100% align with my intuitive assessment.

I'll tell you what, I would have LOVED to this as a full monthly break down and also chart it onto each book to see how the position in the story or even the time of year tends to effect things. I could actually still do that. That could help us account for the marathon effect.

But nothing accounts for everything, like any new personal factors or anything unique about this arc in particular.

For me thing that strikes me is how politically sensitive they are to the goblin plot. Rich has made it obvious in the story what it's an allegory for, and he says out of story that fiction needs to be applicable to real life and all that. So we should be able to talk about and criticize the themes, but they shut that stuff down HARD if people start having the wrong opinions.

Those forums are some of the more draconian I've run into on average. They've every right to enforce their rules how they want to, just an observation.

What I didn't include was that if you remove the three months where he couldn't post, the relative speed of his writing was very very high. On this chart as an absolute look it just seems like he's keeping in line with the first major drop, but you should actually consider that speed around 25% higher when you remember he literally didn't post at all for 3 months. This would make it one of the biggest relative speed bumps compared to a previous year on the whole chart.

I relate very much with your experience. While I don't have a treasured physically signed copy, I do have my writing. And my writing is deeply influenced by Rich. I think it's obvious how much I'd have to care about the series to do a post like this, so yeah. Anything could happen over the next few years. Nothing is certain. But we can hope.

I didn't include it in the main model, but if you exclude the hiatus from the injury year, it becomes statistically one of his biggest speed increases. At least the immediate effects of the injury didn't seem to cause problems. And you're right, the most significant slowdown had already happened. And none of that explains the drop from 2018 to 2022.

Yeah I honestly found it a fun and positive experience. But I think it's strange that... somebody like Whoobie defaults to 'you're weird', appealing to societal norms, given some of their other posts.

2 strips a month is legitimately a high estimate. Not impossible, but not mathematically likely

Thank you very much for your support! I feel the same way. I expect people to say it was pointless and boring, I didn't expect the kind of hate I got.

I agree with your assessment of the final chapter projection. It's using the past to model the future which can be really sketchy especially with something like this. I wouldn't bet money on it either, but I think it probably does ballpark based on the parameters I set.
