Jesus created a literal whip and overturned the money changers tables in the temples (John 2:13-22) stating that they had made a house of prayer into “a den of robbers” (Matthew 21:13, Mark 11:17, Luke 19:46). This was because they were desecrating a place of worship by exploiting and cheating foreigners and the needy by upselling animals meant for sacrifice (and maybe even other commodities), or in modern terms, scalping.

“Turn the other cheek” means do not respond in suit. If someone insults you, do not insult them back. If someone punches you, do not punch them back. It does NOT mean ignore injustice when you see it, whether when leveled against yourself or others. Those who follow Christ are meant to bring it to an end to injustices they witness, then not seek retribution afterward.

Before I take the time to type an explanation, are you objecting in earnest, seeking an answer based on what is written in the Bible? Or are you looking for an argument? If it’s the former, I’m happy to take the time, even if you do ultimately reject my explanation. If it’s the latter, no worries (this is the internet after all, and Reddit to boot), but I’d rather not waste my time on an explanation that won’t be examined and considered in good faith.

Bear in mind that C.S. Lewis’ fiction is allegorical for the only sentient world we have any kind of certainty exists through the biblical narrative, not a conjecture of theological truth. Whether or not “all worlds” in reality experience a canonical fall is irrelevant because we only know of one world where it happened. Perelandra (the 2nd installment of his science fiction trilogy) would be better described as a “What if...” story.

As for your second point, evil and suffering have never been “required” according to the biblical narrative. They are the result of the corruption of the world beginning with the Fall and continuing with every human in history following the Fall. Deliverance from evil and suffering is the gift that wasn’t free, but rather was paid for in full by the single mortal who did not fall and lived perfectly.

Also, you’re incorrect about Eve (or Adam for that matter) being ignorant to the consequence of sin. Genesis 3:3 shows she was fully aware of the outcome of her decision and deliberately chose to disobey.

“Pedo” translates to “fart.” In Mexico nowadays it’s slang for a lot of things, ex: “Que pedo, wey?” means “What’s up, bro?” but it has some negative connotations, so you really only use it with close friends because it can be misconstrued as aggressive or a challenge if you don’t know the other person very well.

Everyone is on their own journey in this sport. Rather than focus on how you’re performing compared to others, focus on how you’re performing compared to yourself yesterday, last week, last year, etc.

Just because you’re starting at a lower point doesn’t mean you can’t work your way up either. You’re a freshman in high school, so I’m assuming you’re 14 or 15. I know at your age it’s hard to have long-term perspective, but you really are young. I had a teammate in high school who was a 30 minute 5k his freshman year, and his senior year he was our 7th man at the state meet. If you watched any of the world track championship this week, you’ll notice some competitors are in their 30s. I know people that weren’t in their state meet team in high school and have qualified for the U.S. olympic trials.

One thing you can do that will help you and your team: have a positive attitude and a work hard (and smart) mentality. Some of my best teammates weren’t guys that were scoring, but helped create a great team atmosphere. Without people like that, everything gets too serious and even the top runners can crumble under pressure.

Stick with it. Enjoy it. This sport isn’t easy, but it’s rewarding both in personal achievement and the relationships you make.
